The Athens Video Art Festival first took place in 2005 and it is an event that celebrates video art. Its aim is to support digital culture and the promotion of modern and innovative forms of expression, giving the artists additional motivation to create and express themselves freely using all audiovisual means. Artists may participate with works of video art, video installations, installations and live art (performance art). No restrictions apply regarding the subject. In the case of submission of video art, the length of the video should not exceed 15 minutes. Artists have the right to participate with a maximum of four submissions. A separate entry form must be completed for each one.

backup_festival is an event for film and video productions developed using digital means. backup began in the European Cultural Capital Year of Weimar that was celebrated in 1999, and with its 2001 edition, backup has reached a level that secures it a respectable place among the European festivals.
