Cinereach is a not-for-profit film production company and foundation that supports feature-length nonfiction and fiction films that possess an independent spirit, depict underrepresented perspectives, and resonate across international boundaries. We favor story over message, character over agenda, complexity over duality. Grants range from $5,000 – $50,000 and are awarded to feature-length films at any stage, including development, production and post-production. There are two letter of inquiry deadlines per year (Summer and Winter), after which a selection of applicants are invited to submit full proposals. The Cinereach grants committee meets twice a year to review the proposals. Each cycle, between 10 and 15 projects are selected to receive support.

The company Cinérgie was founded in Nantes by Pierre Mathiote in 2000. It was the transformation of the original structure which had been set up in 1995 as an Association: Interface Productions, which produced short films and documentaries but this structure was not appropriate for the real business development of this activity. The creation of Cinérgie, an SARL, made it possible to increase the production activity and it continued to produce short films and documentaries. In 2005, Pierre Mathiote welcomed two new shareholders to the company: Alain-Michel Blanc, a recognised film maker and screen writer (Cesar for the best scenario in 2006 for Va vis et deviens and co screen writer of the film Le Concert), and Cyrille Blanc, Chief editor and film maker. With Pierre Mathiote himself being an author, novelist (several literary awards),
screen writer and film maker, Cinérgie clearly sets itself apart from most production companies. Effectively its management is particularly sensitive to the writing quality of their projects and the film makers’ intentions to whom they listen and bring a much-appreciated artistic dialogue. In this way they have been able to successfully accompany several first films and highly demanding artistic projects. This is the case, notably, for the film « Mirage d’un village Russe », by Luc Thauvin, supported by Media as the development of an individual project, which is currently in production. Most of the films produced by Cinérgie have human adventure, discovery, history, even art as themes but they always take their roots in incarnate and human stories, such as in Pierre Mathiote’s last fictional documentary: « Les bagnards du canal de Nantes à Brest », co-produced with France 3 National in 2009 and broadcasted in 2010. Many films and projects also show a marked sensitivity for North-South relations and the international in general.
