The School of Sound presents a stimulating and provocative series of masterclasses by practitioners, artists and academics on the creative use of sound with image. Directors, sound designers, composers, editors and theorists working at the highest levels of film, the arts and media show us the soundtrack from unexpected perspectives. They reveal the methods, theories and creative thinking that lie behind the most effective uses of sound and music. If you work in film, television, commercials, radio or multimedia - whether in entertainment or the arts - this event will convince you of the extraordinary potential of the soundtrack.

TrainEastFilm is a project of film professionals from all over Eastern Europe, initiated by Romanian Film Sector (Bucharest) and Independent Filmmakers' Association South Caucasus (Baku, Tbilisi and Yerevan), and supported by Alt Film (Chisinau), Ankara Cinema Association, Molodist Film Festival (Kyiv) and Film Studio Tanka (Riga). The one-week residential workshop is designed for 24 debuting film professionals (producers, directors, CE's, distributors, media lawyers, etc.) with or without a feature/documentary or case study project. We welcome applications from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Turkey, Ukraine and all East European EU countries. Our training aims at providing relevant information on film culture and film business, to learning of know-how and training in "best practice" - all based on the principle of life-long learning. The training consists of 3 phases: Preparation Phase (case study project given prior to the workshop); Residential Workshop (lectures, case studies, screenings, group sessions covering aspects of project and script development, marketing and financing, intellectual property law, sales and distribution); Reporting Phase (participants draft a report on the outcomes of the training, to be revised by the trainers).

TransISTor provides training to European AV and film professionals with a series of trans-disciplinary workshops focused on advanced new technologies employed in development, production and post-production of feature films, animations, documentaries and experimental media creations. TransISTor is run by CIANT: the International Centre for Art and New Technologies in Prague, Czech Republic.

Transmedia Next is a three day immersive training experience about the art, craft and business of storytelling in the 21st century. This next step in the fusion of film, TV, online, mobile, gaming, music and brands will leave you glimpsing the future and wanting to be part of it.

Twelve for the Future is a project driven co-production workshop for young Nordic documentary producers and directors and is focusing on project development, networking, presentation techniques and financing opportunities. Guided by experienced tutors and working in small groups, the workshop creates an informal atmosphere of knowledge and mutual inspiration, leading to encouraging discussions and feedback.

Verzio DocLab is a 4-day workshop for documentary filmmakers, independent producers and festival organizers, who are working on projects on minority, immigration, social justice or human rights issues. Participants working on Roma issues, or coming from Roma background, will have a priority in the selection.

The Vienna Screenwriters Forum emerged from the official lobby of the Austrian sceenwriters, founded in 1989. We represent the interests of screenwriters, we support professional screenwriters and we promote talented newcomers. Our main tasks are dramaturgical advice, providing exchange of information between film producation companies and authors, advice in legal affairs and publishing books on scriptwriting. We also organize workshops, seminars and an annual symposion with guests from the international film sector. Besides we assign each year at the Diagonale festival of Austrian film the Thomas Pluch Screenplay Prize for the best screenplay made into a film by an Austrian author.

The world's first ‘DOC JAM’ Creative LAB provides a platform for developing, disrupting and expanding documentary ideas. See what happens when factual ideas become multiplatform, interactive, playful and networked. The programme is intended for documentary producers, directors, game developers, game designers and people who want to explore the creative and commercial potential for developing new types of interactive factual content. It aims to provide an understanding of the different skills required to produce transmedia projects.

As in previous years, ZagrebDox, the international documentary film festival, is organizing ZagrebDox Pro for authors and producers of documentary films. This program will enable such professionals to take part in round tables, a masterclass conducted by prominent professionals whose primary field of interest is documentary film, and workshops and the pitching forum (the latter two events being of major importance for their projects).
