The AIDC is one of the largest recurrent screen industry conferences in Australia averaging between 500 to 800 national and international delegates. It provides a market place for documentary product for national and international buyers and distributors, showcases the work of Australian and international documentary makers, and creates a forum to discuss content, craft, technology and future directions.

Berlin Documentary Forum is a biennial festival dedicated to documentary practices across a variety of disciplines. The project seeks to explore the documentary as an art form capable of constructing and reshaping realities and histories. Encompassing cultural studies, philosophy, and diverse artistic practices, the festival accentuates the critical potential of documentary work and distinguishes it from today´s excessive production and distribution of visual documents.

From the year 2004 on, the Institute of Documentary Film (IDF) and the Czech Film Center issue the Catalogue of Czech Documentary Films highlighting remarkable projects, primarily individual documentaries, listing the yearly documentary production and securing important contacts of producers and filmmakers. The catalogue introduces approximately a hundred creative documentaries whose television or distribution premiere is planned for the autumn of the following year at the latest. The upcoming documentaries are divided into three chapters according to film length: films up to thirty minutes, films up to sixty minutes and feature-length films. The catalogue also includes a selection of ca 20 finished documentary films already premiered in Czech cinemas. Subsequently, the catalogue is distributed yearly by both institutions at Czech and international festivals as well as to important institutions and companies in the field of cinematography, providing invaluable promotion to the Czech documentary.

Sarajevo Film Festival organizes a presentation of projects in post-production stage. The attendance is on invitation only. CineLink Work-in-Progress is open for feature-length fiction films, documentaries and animation projects.

The International Film Festival Cinema Mundi in Brno introduces the best recent feature films from all over the world. Each country will be represented by one film selected by the country's experts.

The International Documentary Challenge is a timed filmmaking competition where filmmakers have 5 days to make a short non-fiction film (4-7 minutes.) All of the registered participants make their films during the same time period (early March) and are required to ship the movie by the deadline. In addition to being restricted on time, the filmmakers must choose between 2 assigned documentary genres (such as Biography, Music, 1st Person, etc.) and are assigned a specific theme (such as "Freedom") that will dictate the content and direction of their film. The top 12 films (determined by a panel of judges) premiere at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Film Festival in Toronto where the Winners are announced. After the premiere, there are additional theatrical screenings in major cities, possible television exposure and a DVD release of the best films. The films are also streamed on our website for voting for the Audience Award and many films (including non-finalists) can be seen on the SnagFilms Doc Challenge Channel.

Doc Launch supports East European documentary films in the production and post-production stage on their way to distribution. It consists of the annual Doc Launch presentation and the year-long Doc Launch programme that supports East European documentary films at international events, providing them with consultations and networking possibilities aimed at facilitating distribution. Doc Launch presentation The Doc Launch presentation annually introduces 8-9 handpicked feature-length documentaries from Central and Eastern Europe. Festival programmers, distributors, sales agents, members of the press and audiences get the first glimpse of films in post-production slated for theatrical release over the next year. Building its profile around outstanding documentary projects aiming for theatrical distribution, the Doc Launch presentation is based on the tradition of Docu Talents from the East, co-organized at the Karlovy Vary IFF from 2005 until 2009.

DOC Meeting Argentina is a space devoted to documentaries meant to encourage the construction of networks among cinematography and television industry professionals, at the national, regional and international levels; the development of projects under process; the creation of an area for the discussion of different strategies for co-production, marketing and distribution of the documentary genre; and, undoubtedly, a business area created to market documentaries filmed in various formats. DOC Meeting Argentina is divided into three distinct sections: * Conferences, Workshops and Seminars. Two-day duration. Representatives of television networks and co-production funds and forums, among other professionals, will be presenting lectures on topics such as co-production, acquisitions, distribution, new technologies, legislation and copyright. * One On One Meetings. One-day duration. A business roundtable will be held as part of DOC Meeting Argentina. In this roundtable, producers, buyers and sellers will have a chance to show their projects – completed or under development – to co-producers, television representatives and organizations. * Pitching Forum. In DOC Meeting Argentina, producers and/or directors will have a chance to present their projects to a group of 12 Commissioning Editors (representatives of international television networks who are responsible for the co-production or pre-purchase of documentaries), with the intention of receiving international financing for their projects. Twenty-four projects will be selected.

International meeting aimed at constructing work, cooperation and business networks in Latin America to foster relations among television channels and independent makers and producers

King Sigismund College (Budapest, Hungary) with the support of the National Cultural Fund of Hungary is organizing a three-day film screening and international conference on the latest developments in the theory of documentary cinema and contemporary Hungarian documentaries. The organizers offer a full day of film projections, interspersed with Q&A sessions with the creators of the films. Then on the second day, international and Hungarian scholars will present lectures on the latest trends in documentary filmmaking and documentary theory.

The Documentary Filmmakers Group is a comprehensive resource for those involved in, or interested in the art and production of documentary film and video. We provide professional, convenient and affordable training in touch with the needs of documentary filmmakers at various stages of their careers. The main focus of the Co-Production Meeting is to encourage international co-productions and to help finance outstanding documentary projects for an international audience.

The East Doc Platform is the meeting point for East European filmmakers and producers who seek creative, financial and distribution support, and key international festival programmers, commissioning editors, buyers, distributors, sales agents, film fund and organization representatives who will be able to choose from some of the most promising films and projects in Central and Eastern Europe. The East Doc Platform creates a friendly and inclusive environment where quality creative documentaries can fine-tune their story and visual style, and find suitable partners for co-production and distribution. The programme will also include master classes with renowned filmmakers, case studies, seminars and lectures. The event is organized by the Institute of Documentary Film in association with the One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival.

The EuroMedia Awards honour media productions focusing on the development of a European society and the promotion of European values. A number of high quality educational media products (DVDs,websites, TV series, magazines) have been rewarded since 1995.An international jury of renowned experts evaluates productions from all over Europe and honour the most outstanding ones. It is organized by the European Society for Education and Communication (ESEC).

Europa Cinemas has become the first cinema network with a mainly European programming. The network provides a financial support to cinemas that commit themselves to the programming of a significant number of non-domestic European films and to the organisation of promotional activities concerning European films for young audiences. Europa Cinemas organizes also an annual conference highlighting the most central questions in film theatre development. The Europa Cinemas Awards for the Best Network for Best programming, Best Young Audience Activities and Entrepreneur of the Year are handed out every year.

The European Commission is encouraging enterprising film lovers to prove their creativity and skills by producing a short video that deals with the following questions: What is entrepreneurship all about? What could encourage people to become entrepreneurs? What could counteract old prejudices and offer new visions of entrepreneurship?

The creation of the European Film Academy (EFA) was the initiative of a group of Europe’s finest filmmakers brought together on the occasion of the first European Film Awards Ceremony held in November 1988. EFA was finally founded in 1989 as the European Cinema Society by its first president Ingmar Bergman and 40 filmmakers to advance the interests of the European film industry. The European Film Academy (EFA) now unites more than 2,300 European film professionals with the common aim of promoting European film culture. Throughout the year, the EFA initiates and participates in a series of activities dealing with film politics as well as economic, artistic, and training aspects. The programme includes conferences, seminars and workshops, and a common goal is to build a bridge between creativity and the industry. These activities culminate in the annual presentation of the European Film Awards.

Network of Promotion and Export Organisations from 32 European Countries. A key European promotion organization, EFP was launched in 1997 with 10 founding members and has since become a leading international promotion organization in Europe. With an extended membership of 31 organisations, representing 32 different European countries, EFP has throughout the years sought to address the critical issue of improved marketing and promotion of European films. The network promotes European cinema through its joint initiatives and, at the same time, respects and encourages the individuality and richness of each national cinema of Europe. EFP’s mandate is three-fold - to increase the visibility of European films at key international film festivals and markets via the presentation of high-profile press, industry and public events, to design initiatives at selected festivals and markets which offer European filmmakers greater access to the international marketplace, and to promote and support Europe’s up-and-coming filmmaking talent.

The European Producers Club (EPC) is an association of influential independent film producers from more than 20 countries across Europe. Founded in 1993 within the framework of the GATS negotiations, we act as a network, a think tank and a lobby in order to participate in the definition of the political and legislative context on a European level. The EPC also coordinates an alliance of 35 national Producer Associations across Europe through the European Producer Associations Alliance (EPAA) to coordinate efforts on both a European and national level. A dedicated team of experts works at the EPC in order to promote international film co-production. For more than seven years, the EPC has been organising training workshops, professional conferences, and networking meetings in Europe and all over the world. In addition to its 50 Members, the EPC fosters a network of over 3,000 industry professionals.

The mission of the festival is to promote and defend the work of screenwriters in any genre (feature, documentary, animation, libretto), and to provide a meeting place for creative exchange, networking and screenings.

Filmaka.com is an on-line network created by established independent producers, industry professionals, and film financiers Deepak Nayar, Thomas Augsberger, Christopher Sharp, Robert Herman, Tim Levy, Mahesh Mathai, Kurt Woolner and Colin Firth. Short entries are uploaded every month; they must be based on a given subject and must not exceed three minutes. The goal of Filmaka.com is to give undiscovered filmmakers an opportunity to show custom made short films to industry professionals, award prizes to the most talented among them, and to find one truly talented director who will win a feature film deal with Filmaka at the end of the year.

FOCAL (Federation of Commercial Audiovisual Libraries) was formed in 1985 as an international, non-profit making, professional trade association, providing excellent networking and marketing opportunities for content industry professionals and giving users easy access to over 300 members worldwide. It represents commercial film/audiovisual, stills and sound libraries as well as interested individuals such as facility houses, professional film researchers and producers working in the industry. Every year the association organizes the FOCAL International Awards, an event that awards audiovisual productions with the best use of footage.
