The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

2 Days Later Short Film Competition

In October 2003 Beeping Bush Productions and Close-Up Film magazine staged their first horror short film competition open to all. Entitled 2 Days Later this annual 48 hour competition, open to all regions, is designed to encourage local people interested in film, maybe for the first time, to make a production with nominal expense and technical ability. The films must have a horror, chiller or suspense theme and be produced within 48 hours and have to be no longer than 10 minutes. The entries can be made on any format, video, digital media or film. A judging panel of industry professionals will vote for the best film in five categories - Best Film, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Sound, Best Student Film, as well as the audience vote for Most Popular Film.

The Festival of 3 Continents is an International Film Festival devoted to the presentation of feature fiction films and documentaries from Africa, Asia and Latin America. The festival was first held in 1987 as a retrospective of African cinema but has gradually evolved into Europe’s biggest African film festival. The programme focuses on new productions. Age d'Or Prize & Cinédécouvertes Prizes

As a tribute to Luis Bunuel’s masterpiece, the Royal Belgian Film Archive awards the Age d’Or Prize to a film of which the authenticity, the peculiarity of purpose and of style mark a break with cinematographic uniformity. This prize amounting to €5000 is granted by the Jacques Ledoux Foundation. During this same competition the Jury will also award two Cinédécouvertes (Film Discovery) Prizes. These prizes (€ 10.000 each), financed by the French Community of Belgium, are granted to two films unreleased in Belgium, which have not yet found a local distributor. The Age d’Or prize and one of the Cinédécouvertes prizes can be awarded to the same film.
