In The Palace is an international festival for professional short films of up to 45 minutes in length. It is held each year in the second half of June in the Black Sea town of Balchik. Established in 2003, the festival had grown from a competitive forum for student films into the largest and most prestigious short film festival in Bulgaria and the region. Besides the annual film competition programmes, In The Palace is accompanied by parallel events, build-in workshops, trainings and invigorating music performances.

The Independent Producers International Film Festival – IPIFF is annual international event that primarily aims to promote Romanian film, the identity and personality of the producer. IPIFF5 is the only event in Romania that presents the public the entire national movie production.

IndieLisboa will be a privileged event to meet the most recent and interesting works of independent cinema from all over the world. The main aim of the Festival is to discover new films and new directors, in the universe of independent cinema. IndieLisboa wants to promote the cinematographic culture and enlarge cinema audiences by showing an ensemble of films that would otherwise be difficult to see in Portugal. IndieLisboa is centred in a film competition with a demanding selection and it will bring to Lisbon directors, producers, journalists, critics, etc.

The International Film Festival Innsbruck mainly presents films from and about Africa, Asia and Latin America. It takes place every year for five days in Innsbruck. The Festival is supported by the Government of the Bundesland Tyrol, the City Government of Innsbruck, the Austrian Federal Government and Cine Tirol Film Commission & Fund. The official selection includes two competitions, each for feature-length films: the International Competition and the Competition for the best film from a french speaking country. Furthermore the festival organizes a non-competitive section, tributes and focuses.

The largest event of its kind in Canada, Inside Out celebrates more than two decades of challenging attitudes and changing lives. Over 11 days, the Festival draws crowds of 35,000 to screenings, artist talks, panel discussions, installations and parties that highlight more than 250 films and videos from Canada and around the world.

The festival presents new feature releases from Poland's East European neighbours: Czech Republic, Hungary, Russia, Slovakia.

More than 300 shortfilms and videos are shown during the six days of the festival and an estimated 100 films is annually nominated for the international competition. Apart from the competitions, the festival also includes historical short film programmes, video programmes, music clips, commercials, documentary films and computer animation, as well as the chance to catch up on highlights from previous interfilm festivals. There are thematically related seminars and parties. All film entries can be viewed by accredited guests at the film market. The interfilm festival will also host the National Short Film Prize Ceremony.

The 1001 Documentary Film Festival takes place in Istanbul, one of the oldest metropolises in the world. It is the only documentary festival that is held on two continents at the same time, owing to the unique geography of the city. Istanbul is adjacent to the Middle East, the Caucasus, and the Balkans, surrounded by the most heated regions in the world of current affairs. For this reason, we believe that hosting international documentary filmmakers here with their films and their voices and displaying the power of documentary cinema on this outstanding platform is of utmost importance. For 16 years, the films to be shown in 1001 Documentary Film Festival are chosen according to their universal cinematic language as well as the values they posses glorifying humanism, their advocacy of the togetherness of different cultures without replacing one with another, their contribution to the future of mankind, and their diversified and deep perspectives.

VAFI – International Children and Youth Animation Film Festival in desire to make Varaždin and Croatia a place where children and youth, professionals, our guests and all animation lovers will be able to exchange their experience and make new friendships beyond their own states; a place where children and young people will enjoy films; where they will learn and associate at the same time. Our wish is to stop the negative trend of individualization and ill will among ourselves and to erase all physical and menatal boundaries. So we have decided that every year one school from Varaždin will host our young national and international guests. In this way VAFI will be the true festival of films, animation, children and youth and not only the festival of prizes. VAFI is an independent film festival that promotes cultural creativity of children and youth specialized for animated films made by children or youth under 18 years.

International Critics’ Week presents a very selective programming of seven feature films and seven shorts films in Cannes so that the films can get a greater visibility. The Critics’ Week Grand Prix is awarded by the press (journalists and films critics are invited to vote after each screening of the Selection). Feature films also run for the SACD Prize for best screenplay and the ACID Prize that helps the film to be distributed. Short films can receive the Canal+ Award for best short film and the Kodak Discovery Award. The first feature films also run for the Caméra d’Or.

International documentary film festival that focuses on current affairs and social issues.

In the end of XX century at the film studio in Sverdlovsk (nowadays’ Yekaterinburg) a team of prominent filmmakers worked. Among them there were Andrey Anchugov, Serguey Miroshnichenko, Andrey Zhelezniakov, Georgiy Negashev, Boris Kustov, Aleksey Fedorchenko and other filmmakers whose films have received a lot of prizes at major European and American festivals. They all had the same desire to tell the truth about Soviet Union and to focus on life of ordinary people who had never been in the center of documentary filmmakers’ attention before. In their films they all used filming methods introduced by American filmmaker Robert Flaherty in his film “Nanook of the North”. Long-term follow-up and «habitual» camera has become directing platform for Severdlovsk documentary school. The Flahertiana festival named after this American filmmaker rests upon principles first used by Robert Flaherty in his film “Nanook of the North”. These are films where the hero lives on the screen a part of his life directed by the author according to the laws of dramatic art. All decisions of the festival selection commission, which consists of film critics Viktoria Belopolskaya and Marina Drozdova and filmmakers Boris Karadzhev and Pavel Petchenkin, are made based on these principles. The first edition of the festival was held in 1995 and until 2006 it was held once in two years. That time it was more like theoretic workshop not competition. Since 2006 the festival officially became annual international documentary film festival with international competition jury and FIPRESCI jury. The festival laureates are awarded in the following nominations: * Grand Prix for the best documentary of the festival * Award for the best long documentary * Award for the best short documentary * FIPRESCI Award Besides main competition program there is “Russian Flahertiana” program which includes best Russian films of Flahertiana aesthetics. The winner of the program is determined based on audience voting. The festival prize fund amounts to 500,000 rub. Perm Krai Government is the main sponsor of the festival.

DOCSDF - Mexico City International Documentary Film Festival aspires to present a quality programming, presenting documentary films from all parts of the world. The festival also wants to be a forum for documentary fans, filmmakers and producers, aims to become the vanguard of the emerging international documentary circuit, and wants to foster Spanish-language documentaries. Sections and awards: DOCSDF Award for Best Documentary, Best Latin American Documentary; José Rovirosa Award for Best Mexican Documentary, La Red Award for Best TV Documentary, DOCSDF Award for Best Short Documentary.

The International Festival of Diving Films (hereinafter referred as only IFDF) is organised annually according to the numerical order and the year in which it takes place. The IFDF has been organised in Slovakia since 1986. It was established in Martin, and the first year took place in Matica Slovenska in Hostihora. In 1993 the Festival took place in the High Tatras for the first time and its organiser was the Scuba Diving Club Vodnar Poprad.

The International Festival of Ethnological Film focuses on creative ethnographic documentaries with strong ethnological sensibility. In addition to the main film program it hosts a variety of events including special film programs, meetings with filmmakers and social gatherings. The concept of the Festival aims to encourage and inspire wide audience, anthropologists and filmmakers to contribute to impact and use of ethnographic film.

The International Festival of Films on Tribal Arts & Culture (IFFTAC) takes place every year in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and showcases films based on the theme of Tribal culture, art, religion, architecture, philosophy, traditions, mythology, history, lifestyle, food, costumes, jewellery, sports and various aspects associated with them. The festival accepts documentary, fiction, animated and short films between 1 - 150 minutes in length.

The main focus of the festival is to present new films made in francophone countries. The films fall into two categories: competition and non-competition section. In the competition section, an international jury awards three prizes – Grand Prix, Special Prize, and Prize of the Audience and an Honorary Mention. A Film Night is a special part of the festival every year.

The festival accepts films related to the theme of exploration - extreme, environment, sustainable development, speleology, diving, oceanography, archaeology, ethnography, etc.

The International Festival of Outdoor Films showcases films dedicated to adventure, extreme sports and exploration. The festival programme visits eighteen towns across the Czech Republic. Organizers accept films in the following categories: 1/ Adventure and extreme sports - e.g. skiing, mountain biking, paragliding, etc. 2/ Climbing and mountain films - climbing sports, glacier climbing, polar expeditions, mountain environment, mountain cultures, etc. 3/ Adventure and water sports - rafting, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, surfing, diving, marathon swimming, etc.

The International Film Festival on Human Rights / Festival International du Film sur les Droits Humains was first held in 2003. The Festival will organize its examination of the human rights question around five axes: globalization, new insecurities, the environment, freedom of expression, and state violence. The Festival will choose quality films and videos from young directors and renowned filmmakers which shed light on human rights issues. These works will be the starting point for larger debate on the universal question of human rights, bringing together all of the concerned parties.

The International Film Festival is being organized by the Directorate of Film Festivals, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in collaboration with the Government of Goa, and the Indian Film Industry. India's oldest and most prestigeous film festival.

The International Film Festival Rotterdam offers a quality selection of worldwide independent, innovative and experimental cinema and visual arts. Devoted to screen, offering a platform to and actively supporting independent filmmaking from around the globe, the Rotterdam film festival is the essential hub for discovering film talent, for watching and catching the first word of mouth on its many world and international premieres, for exploring its competitions, main sections of recent feature films, short films and documentaries, visual arts exhibitions, theme sections and debates. The festival also includes a five-day international co-production market, CineMart.

FIDEC - International Film School Festival wishes to be the link between film students, industry professionals, media and the public by promoting short films produced by Belgian and international students. The festival screens short films (fiction, animation and documentary) produced by students attending a film school. Submissions should not exceed 30 minutes.

The International Human Rights Film Festival in Albania (IHRFFA) comes with a new way of educating people with the human rights concepts. Constituted as a cultural platform for the dissemination and awareness rising of the people on human rights issues, it operates through using image as its instrument.
