The Dutch Directors Guild aspires to promote the professional, social, artistic and legal interests of film and television directors in The Netherlands. The guild has some 220 members, from the field of fiction as well as documentary.

Deblokada was founded in 1997 as an association of artists. From its beginning, Deblokada respected authentic forms of authors’ film expression, while taking into account the market effects of the production of various artistic forms.

DEFA Foundation maintains the collection of the DEFA Studio films and makes part of the film heritage accessible to public. DEFA also provides financial support to German cinema in the form of film project funding, scholarships and film awards.

Since 1978, the DFS has worked to promote the film medium as both an art form and a civic forum, developing a program that includes year-round screenings, community outreach projects and renowned special events. It is in fact the only nonprofit organization in Colorado dedicated to engaging both its members and the general public in a lifelong, life-altering relationship with and understanding of film and film culture. The twin pillars it has built on the foundation of this vision are the award-winning Starz Denver Film Festival and the Starz Film Center.

The Department was formed in June 2002 and its mission is: "To enrich Irish society by supporting the growth of a competitive and sustainable tourism industry and increasing access to, and participation in sport, the arts and culture." Its objectives in th efield of art are: the formulation, development and evaluation of policy and structures to promote and foster the practice and appreciation of the creative and interpretative arts and to encourage the development of the Irish film industry; enabling the national cultural institutions, as integral elements of the national culture, to preserve, protect and present for the benefit of present and future generations our moveable heritage and cultural assets.

The German Film Academy was established in 2003. Currently it has 700 members - filmmakers, film producers and other industry professionals. The objective of the Academy is to become a forum for professionals and to further develop the understanding and awareness of German film. The Academy also organizes the annual German film awards ceremony, Deutscher Filmpreis - LOLA.

Deutsche Kinemathek is a foundation that presents its important collections on film history - c. 12,500 film titles, national and international productions from 1895 up to the present + other film materials and technical apparatus. In addition the Deutsche Kinemathek is responsible for the Retrospective section of the Berlinale, and puts on special film series, exhibitions, colloquia and other events.

Deutsches Filminstitut - DIF was founded in 1949. Its main task is to collect and maintain information, statistics and materials related to German film. Another responsibility is to collect, restore and preserve films. Deutsches Filmarchiv was established in 1952 as part of the Institute its collection contains around 11 000 films, some of which can be rented out for non-commercial purposes.

The museum has an archive with a collection of films, posters, photographs, screenplays and film apparatus; it also runs a public library and organizes a range of exhibits devoted to different aspects of filmmaking and significant figures of film history.

The Association of Danish Film Directors was founded in 1956 as an interest group with the aim to take part in the public debate about film policy issues. The organisation has now about 300 members that work in such different fields as animation and art film to TV-programmes and feature film.

Founded in 1950s, the association currently has approx. 76 active members; since 1992 - annual awards for best achievement in cinematography.

Die Fabrikanten are engaged in client and community based cultural work. At the end of 1990 Wolfgang Preisinger and Gerald Harringer founded the office Die Fabrikanten after having completed their studies at the University of arts in Linz. Without making any difference between applied and free artistic work, Die Fabrikanten work as a communication agency and at the same time carry out cultural projects – demanding to create a social surplus value. The intellectual approaches of Die Fabrikanten come from art, science and economics. Extraordinary perspectives develop thanks to the combination of new links between these fields and they manifest themselves in corporate designs, rooms, situations and communication concepts.

The Digital TV Group is the industry association for digital television in the UK. It is independent, platform neutral and technology agnostic.

Directors Across Borders (DAB) was established in 2005 to promote the idea that film and its makers are in a unique position to explore and penetrate the borders, to understand the neighbor—in the largest sense of the term. As a co-production forum, it launched within the framework of Golden Apricot - Yerevan International Film Festival. Initially, it was a regional network of film directors and film professionals living in Caucasus and in the neighboring countries: Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkey and etc. - who agreed that cinema is one of the unique tools that could transform human relations without the need for recognizing political, ideological, racial or religious borders. DAB firstly was just a forum of independent filmmakers to determine the common problems typical for states in transition. By emphasizing multinational and multicultural approaches DAB hoped to contribute to establishment of a new ‘common space’ - which would expand from the former Soviet borders and respect the differences of those who have lived together for ages.

Directors UK, formerly DPRS, was launched in June 2008 as the single voice for film and television directors in the UK. The organisation is both a collecting society for the distribution of secondary rights payments to directors, and the campaigning body seeking to protect and enhance the creative, economic and contractual rights of directors in the UK. As Directors UK we also aim to create a community in which British directors can meet, discuss and exchange ideas.

Created by the French Directors Guild in the wake of the events of May ’68, the Directors’ Fortnight seeks to aid filmmakers and contribute to their discovery by the critics and audiences alike. Since its inception, the Directors' Fortnight has showcased the first films of Werner Herzog, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Nagisa Oshima, George Lucas, Martin Scorsese, Ken Loach, Jim Jarmusch, Michael Haneke, Chantal Akerman, Spike Lee, and Sofia Coppola, among others. Among the various sections at the Cannes IFF, the Directors’ Fortnight is distinguished by its independent-mindedness and its non-competitive nature. Striving to be receptive to all forms of cinematic expression, the Directors' Fortnight pays particular attention to the annual production of fiction features, short films and documentaries, independent fringe filmmaking, and even to contemporary popular genres. The films are chosen by Frédéric Boyer, the SRF-appointed artistic director, seconded by a team of five professionals and film critics.

Founded in 1961, the organization has nearly 12,000 members.

The Documentary Organization of Canada / Documentaristes du Canada (DOC) is the collective voice of independent documentary filmmakers across Canada. It is a member driven organization dedicated to promoting, supporting and developing the art form of documentary filmmaking. As a national non-profit association it advocates on behalf of its members to foster an environment condusive to documentary production and strives to strengthen the sector within the broader film production industry.
