The Curse of the Hedgehog

The Curse of the Hedgehog portrays a big and extremely poor Roma family from the south Carpathians for a period of one year. This family belongs to the Baesii group of Roma. They are shown on teh way from their mountain dwelling to villages in the valley, where they sell their handmade goods to get some food and money. For them these are the wintersurvival trips as they have no other income. However, during the 120 minutes we come to know many details not only of how they secure their existence, but also why thez reject to till the soil and what is their relation to the Romanian shepherds, and to the rich Baesii from their village who make big fortunes by selling fake rings abroad. We discover how is mytological thinking and religious faith activated in their everyday life, and what does it mean to be Ortodox in their view.
