The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.

Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

The International Film Festival Rotterdam launched CineMart more than 25 years ago as a regular film market. However, it quickly became apparent that there was a greater need for a new kind of platform to present projects looking for additional financing. With that in mind, the IFFR remodelled CineMart as an effective co-production market, the first of its kind. Throughout its history, CineMart has proven to be an integral part of the film industry, providing an indispensable platform to support the realization of new film projects and heralding the start of each new film year. The formula of introducing projects to potential co-producers, sales agents, television buyers, distributors and financiers in one-on-one meetings has proven to be so effective that many festivals have used the same blueprint to create their own co-production markets.

The first co-production market of its kind, MEDIA-funded CineMart offers filmmakers the opportunity to launch their ideas to the international film industry and to find the right connections to get their projects financed. Every year, CineMart invites a select group of directors/producers to present their film projects to co-producers, funds, sales agents, distributors, TV stations and other potential financiers. The 2013 edition, which will take place in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, from 23 January to 3 February, is currently accepting applications.

Selection criteria:

The viability and quality of the plans and the demonstrable talent of the directors and/or producers
The projects have to be new or recent and not have explored all possible avenues of financing
The project should not have been presented at any other market or festival, except when linked to one of CineMart's partnering organisations.

CineMart is looking for film projects:

That are feature films with theatrical potential (minimum length of 60 minutes)
From all parts of the world
In all stages of pre-production, from script development to production
For which a complete screenplay will be available during CineMart
For which there is a potential international market
Which have a producer and a director attached.
