Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

dokumentART Festival is a competitive event and focuses on documentary films by European filmmakers. The main Competition is supplemented by a closer look at the documentary film of Eastern Europe. Besides the competitive programme, dokumentARTalso offers workshops, lectures and special screenings.

The 22. dokumentART – European Festival for Documentaries takes place from 18th to 22th October 2013 in Neubrandenburg and Szczecin simultaneously.

Innovative documentary film makers from all over Europe meet up in Neubrandenburg and in Szczecin every year. They show films which deal with changing realities; films which test and even transcend the boundaries of their genre in the exciting frontier region between tradition and avantgarde.
We especially welcome entries from young filmmakers who have not yet established themselves. Films and videos should be no more than sixty minutes in length and should have been completed after 1st January 2012.
The film must be subtitled in English. Preference will be given to films which have not previously been shown elsewhere, although we will accept those which have.
Every year a different European film school will introduce itself as part of the festival’s international programme. Besides the European competition dokumentART also offers a special to promote East-European film. Thus encounters between young filmmakers from Eastern and Western Europe within an expanded Europe are supported. Our international programme is further supplemented by Specials, Retrospektives and regional features.

Panel, Jury, Prizes:
An independent Polish-German panel will select the films to be shown at the festival. Prizes will be distributed by an independent jury consisting of experts chosen by the organisers. The total value of the prizes is 10,000 Euros.

Registration, Deadline:
Entry form of preview films in DVD format must reach us by June 14th 2013. Please supply a short summary of the film, and a list of all narratives and dialogues used in the film in English and also in German, if available. The film must be subtitled in English. Please also supply the film maker‘s biography and filmography, the latter giving the original film titles.
