The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

PRAVO LJUDSKI has established itself as a platform promoting socially engaged nonfictional audiovisual artworks, dedicated to the development of critical spectatorship through socially engaged documentaries and independent art cinema in general. We believe in poetic, illuminating art forms embracing the beauty of differences and critically engaged with the past and currents we live in.


The 8th edition of Pravo Ljudski Film Festival will take place on 13 - 18 November, 2013 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.


PRAVO LJUDSKI now invites submissions within three of its festival sections:

extra muros
kung fu shorts
arts & docs

Deadline: July 15th, 2013

extra muros: First- or Second - Time Directors Competition Program

extra muros, the debuts competition programme, aims at promotion and discovery of new films and new directors. We especially encourage socially engaged (in the broadest sense), innovative and creative works, exploring new trends and new forms in documentary film-making. Extra muros is open only for mid-length (more than 30 minutes and less than 60 minutes in length) or feature-length (more than 60 minutes in length) documentary films.

kung fu shorts: non-competitive short film program

The kung fu shorts program is open for short documentary films only, of up to 30 minutes length, especially encouraging entries of films of up to 10 minutes length.
Envisaged as a platform for the promotion of emerging audiovisual trends and forms, the kung fu shorts programme hosts new generation of short films combining skilled, aesthetic creativity and auteur’ approach, with outstanding narrative structure.

arts & docs: non-competitive program showcasing docs on arts, culture and artists

The arts & docs program is open for films treating arts and culture as a subject. We especially encourage entries of documentaries dealing with the subject of arts/artists/culture in an innovative and aesthetically creative way. Preference will not be given to (educational) TV productions, while we also discourage submissions of conventional biopics.

ALL THE FILMS SHOULD BE PRODUCED AFTER January 1st, 2012.
ALL THE FILMS SHOULD HAVE ITS PREMIERE IN BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA.
