Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

The Sundance Film Festival is the premiere U.S. Film Festival for independent short and feature-length documentary and dramatic films. The programs of Sundance Institute include the annual Sundance Film Festival which is held in Park City each January and is considered the premier U.S. showcase for American and international independent film. The Institute supports nonfiction filmmakers through the Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program by providing year-round support through the Sundance Institute Documentary Fund and a series of programs that encourage the exploration of innovative nonfiction storytelling and promote the exhibition of documentary films to increasingly broader audiences.

The festival selects 200 films for exhibition and attracts more than 50,000 film lovers and industry leaders: January 17 - 27, 2013.

Each year, Sundance selects 200 films for exhibition and attracts more than 50,000 film lovers and industry leaders, with an additional million participants accessing the Festival online. Last year's "Best of Fest" screenings included a diverse array of offerings that have since attracted widespread acclaim, including The Surrogate, Beasts of the Southern Wild, and Safety Not Guaranteed. No two Sundance selections are alike, except in respect to their level of quality, a fact which makes the upcoming 2013 Festival impossible to predict and just as difficult to resist.
