Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Getting Back
The documentary addresses the problem of the return of prisoners to normal life in society. Andrzej is 50 years old man, released from prison after 10 years. We watch him for a year as he practically starts over. He has no sustenance whatsoever and his old apartment is ruined. So he has to move in with his mother who supports him in these difficult times. Is he likely to returtn to normal life?

A Life To Live
An optimistic and warm story of the blind children who are being prepared for an independent adult life by the instructors at the Centre for the blind in Laski.

I`m With You
The leads of this film are parents accompanying their sick children to hospitals. In hospital wards (often completely unprepared for that) the parents spend weeks, months in very harsh conditions: sleeping in chairs, on the floor, often without dining facilities, and with no bathrooms to wash themselves.Little does it matter to them, though. Most important, they may be by their children`s bedside all the time. The leads are three parents and their children: the mother of David ill with cancer, the father of Patrycja who has had a kidney transplant, and the mother of Alicja with a heart condition. The camera accompanies the parents and kids during their daily routines (talks with doctors, keeping watch over the kid, games, etc.) as well as during dramatic situations. This is a film about parental love and devotion.

Kids Play
The film "Kids Play" shows the world of adults reflected in a "distorting mirror" of the behaviors, games and plays of the pre-school age children.
