Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Benzi Paolo

No Peace Without War
Ewa and Piotr Sosnowski are descended from a now-impoverished noble Polish family. Today the two elderly siblings, both heavy drinkers and chain-smokers, share a run-down flat in an old building. Photos in black and white bear silent witness to better days and create a strong contrast to their present lives. Dangerously close to its subjects, this film succeeds in telling a remarkable and disturbing story about memory and loss.

His works as line producer and producer include Guerra by Pippo Delbono (hfilms, David di Donatello for Best Italian Documentary Film 2004), Feltrinelli by Alessandro Rossetto (Dschoint Ventschr/Eskimosa/Pandora Film, 2006), IngeFilm by Luca Scarzella (Feltrinelli/Cinecittà Luce, 2010) among the others. In 2006 he attended the Ateliers Varan in Paris. He’s the general manager of the film company Faber Film. He produced Rumore Bianco by Alberto Fasulo (2008), Valentina Postika in attesa di partire by Caterina Carone, L’estate di Giacomo by Alessandro Comodin (2011), No Peace Without War by Lorenzo Castore and Adam Cohen (2012), and Uomini soli by Paolo Santolini (2012). He’s currently co-developing the short film Redemption by Miguel Gomes (O Som e a Fúria/Komplizen/Le Fresnoy/Faber Film). He is 2009 Eurodoc Graduate. He was member of the Cinema Suisse Jury at VdR, Nyon, 2011; and of Best Central and Eastern European Documentary Film Jury at Jihlava IDFF, 2011.
