Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Forst
Forst is a portrayal. The documentary tells about a forest in the middle of Europe far from the urban world and from civilisation, which is home to a peculiar community of the banished. It is a world for the stranded. A diffuse system that still has total control makers sure that this world does`t show itself, that it doesn`t pop up in our reality and become a disturbance. In Forst the banished proclaim their own truth and tell the story of their coming to power. They slowly recall their identity as political refugees and start to make plans for their escape...

Paradise Later
Paradise Later is a „documentary adaption of a novel“. Inside the head of a trader we travel on a river meandering through an apocalyptic scenery. A stream of thoughts carries us away into a vortex of accusation, damnation and self-condemnation. We take a short exit – into a reality. The gaze widens for a moment. But our captain frantically navigates us towards a fatal ending. (production note)

Jakarta Disorder
It is only the second time that Indonesians can vote for their own president. Two charismatic women, however, are not satisfied with mere elections. Grandma Dela, who lives in a slum of the tropical megacity, and the intellectual Wardah Hafidz are setting out to collect 1.5 million signatures of the poorest, who are constantly threatened by the local arbitrary justice and the desires of the global capital. Can the power of a small elite really be overthrown by the power of many, or is “real democracy“ just an ideal? With this political road-documentary the director portrays social changes and improvements in his mother's old homeland.
