The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

The Story of Jan Lenhart
The film tells the story of Jan Lenhart, the renown singer of folk music of Slovaks from Vojvodina. The film discovers again the unforgettable talent of this remarkable man and his music through discussion on the contemporary music scene highlighting all the while how true artistic values are timeless.

Danube Swabians
This film tells the story of "Danube Swabians“, the descendants of the youngest German tribes who immigrated to the territory of Vojvodina in the eighteenth century, searching for better life. The story follows their destiny from the very beginnings of settling in this region, through their position during the World War II, to the present time. Maria is a descendant of Danube Swabians. She comes to Vojvodina to find the old house of her grandfather who was exiled after the World War II. On the way she meets a local guy Misho, who helps her. Together they travel across Vojvodina, meeting witnesses of the traumatic post-war events, who managed to survive communist concentration camps. That’s how they discover entirely new facts about Danube Swabians that have been hidden from the public for decades.

Silent One
Andrija Tihi is a man who lost his eyesight by a midwife by mistake, accidentally, on the tenth day of of his birth. Today he is 70 years old. His life philosophy is that there is no lack which can not be compensated. Since long time ago he realized that not even seeing people are not ever-seeing, and that everyone has some kind of defect which in itself is not insurmountable, but the problem is how do you wear it. By nationality he is an optimist.This is a film about a man who won the battle with life, who does not fall under the weight which brings the life, but walks straight through it. Although his life was taken from him one of the most important gifts, however, this one celebrates the life and teach others how to honor him.

Born on 1978 in Zrenjanin, Yugoslavia. Graduated film and theater directing at the Art Academy in Novi Sad. President and founder of the independent production MANDRAGORA FILM. Made over ten short and feature lenght films. Colaborate with several independent productions in Serbia, Slovenia, Italy and UK. Experience in all segments of filmmaking. Teaching at Film School of DKSG (Culture Center Student City) Belgrade subject “film language and editing”. In past couple of years he has been exploring and presenting culture and tradition of many nations who live in his neighborhood. He have created several theater plays.
