From Romania to Zion
The Romanian Israelite Boys’ School of Focşani – where the first pre-Zionist conference was held, deciding the settlement in Palestine of Romanian Jews. Galati Harbor - the starting point of the journey to Palestine. Draining the marshes ridden by malaria-carrying mosquitoes. Many fell prey to this disease that they were not accustomed to. Before the village was built, the immigrants lived in tents. Typical dentistry care – the dentist would travel by cart from village to village to care for his patients. On a holiday, the villagers gather to listen to a violin concerto. During the deportation of survivors of the Iasi pogrom, halt a train to throw off the bodies of those who had died on the way. There were 13266 victims in three days - July 1941. Ships carrying Jews to the Haifa port are accosted by British soldiers and send to Cypus Hundreds of thousands of Jewish refugees temporarily settled in the new state of Israel - in tent cities.
