Theatre Svoboda
Theatre Svoboda portraits the life and work of the director’s grandfather, world-famous stage designer Josef Svoboda (1920–2002), who tried to juggle creative freedom, family life and political allegiances during the times of a communist regime. Svoboda was able to work for the top of world theatres, such as The Old Vic in London, The Metropolitan Opera in New York and La Scala in Milano. The film takes the viewer literally behind the scenes and reveals some of the secrets of Svoboda’s fascinating lifework through archive materials that have not been published yet.
The Czech Hump
Several years ago, dry rot destroyed the house on top of the Czech Republic's highest mountain. This gave rise to heated debates over the future plans for the location. Should it remain bare or should there be a new building? The result of these debates is surprising: Mrs. Skrbková, a former post office manager, decided to renew the tradition of Czech post office on Mt. Snezka. An experimental wooden house, a new post office by architects Rajniš and Hoffman was built in a matter of a few months. The house has its own ZIP code and a small halo, and can be adapted to changing weather conditions. The documentary records the construction carried out in extremely difficult conditions, its changes and the reactions of various people. Can this small house on four legs last till the next spring?

Jakub Hejna (1976), film editor, director, producer. Jakub graduated at Film Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU, Prague), Dept. of Film Editing. In 2001 he established Young-Film, his own editing and post-production studio. Has made a number of short and full-length documentaries, mainly broadcast by Czech TV. He has edited many award-winning documentaries, e.g., The Beauty Exchange (dir. Erika Hníková, producer Jiří Konečný, endorfilm, 78 min, 2004); Searching for Ester (dir. Věra Chytilová, 128 min, 2005); Lost Holiday (dir. Lucie Králová, 85 min, 2007); René (dir. Helena Třeštíková, 90 min, 2008); Katka (dir. Helena Třeštíková, 90 min, 2009).
