Huvar Michal
This documentary film by the director Michal Huvar captures the unique rendering of the poetry of Prague poet and painter Petr Pichl. In the surroundings of magical Vyšehrad, the printed version of his work was also adapted as a sound project, featuring Miroslav Moravec, a classic among Czech stage actors. The film also portrays Pichl as an interesting artist, capturing him in his studio against the backdrop of compelling music by Jarmark, a rock band from Hodonín.
The Land of the Vine Leaf
In an original way, this poetical film glorifies the land and people of the foothills of magical region of Pálava in southern Moravia, and meditates on the coexistence of people and landscape. A French version of the film Krajina révového listu (The Land of the Vine Leaf) from 2004.
Karel Capek visited the Netherlands at the end of June 1931. The book still offers an interesting perspective on how today's Netherlands has retained many of the characteristics that Capek aptly described. The film attempts to capture the atmosphere of film language in the country - through words, drawings (animation) and music. Pictures from Holland are the first part of the cycle, wandering in the footsteps of Czech writers in Europe (Italy, England, Sweden, Norway and Spain).
