Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). Art of Burlesque
The Art of Burlesque is a tribute made to more than a hundred years of female beauty, fashion and performance art. This film introduces this art form and its history from the beginnings of vaudeville in the nineteenth century, through to the highlights of burlesque in the early twentieth century to the American fifties. In the 21st century, burlesque has made an incredible comeback. We will meet glamorous performers and dancers, including Dita Von Teese, Immodesty Blaize and many others, to help illustrate the meaning of this movement in various kinds of creative areas, such as fashion, music, film and theatre. Our documentary will stay focused on the subject and will only cover the most important periods and personalities. The film will be composed of archive materials, contemporary interviews and short film series. We want to give the best possible overview this subject can offer, but with a view to quality and respect.

Ave Agony
The concert film "AVE AGONY" was made on the occasion of the comeback of the Czech electronic legend Vanessa. The film presents the band members both in private and in the backstage during their comeback concert held on December 17th, 2009 in the Vltavská club in Prague. The comeback of the controversial band represented a great event on the Czech music scene, followed by the ban of their music video "Hello, Drop Dead" on all TV stations. The band's new album Ave Agony also achieved a great success in the neighbouring Germany. The album was produced by Alexander Hacke, a member of another legend - Germany's Einstürzende Neubauten - who also speaks about his work in the film.
