This is a film about love. 27 young people who grew up during late communist era in Bulgaria, had turned up at a place in very intriguing, strange or conspiratorial manner and it had changed their lives. All has started on a stage in 1982 and it still goes on. They gather again to say things they have never said. And all because of Her.

Beast
The story of a girl, who had grown up behind the Iron Curtain and escaped to the West, sums up the lives of many people who lived “the experiment”. This girl is a fantasy character, played and narrated by an actor and she appears in an animated sequence interspersed throughout the film. She is chased by a cartoon character called Beast. The Beast is a graphic metaphor of all common ideas and clichés about communism, positive or negative. The real live characters in our film are two groups who lead a debate - on one side those who lived under the regime – Cubans, Bulgarians, Russians, Hungarians, and on the other, westerners – British and Germans, who still romanticize about it. Indeed what is Communism - an aspirational idea or a menacing dictatorship?
3 fools
The series “Three Fools” have universal appeal in and outside Bulgaria. Three funny, silly cartoon characters that always get into trouble sum up the Socialist society then. Their publicly known author X had a privileged life under the protection of the Communist Party and its leader Y. While their real creator Z had been abused and maltreated. The story is humorous and provokes curiosity about a paradoxical time when political orientation dictated destinies. Slap-stick and pulp fiction elements, personal and TV archive will reveal the personages of X,Y and Z – the real life “three fools” while the cartoon was made.

Bulgaria became worldwide known for its animation. Portrait of a man who made most significant animated films for many decades, only in the shadow of their official author. While the author crossed the globe to receive awards and glory, our hero was not allowed to travel. Dressed in humour, this film takes us back to the 70’s, and observes, alongside the craft making, the politics of how really films were made.

Shooting Star Award at the 2006 Berlin International Film Festival; Best Actress Award at the 2005 Moscow Film Festival. Numerous awards for her leading roles in Bulgarian films. Vesela has produced several theatre performances; working as a project manager, play co-writer, composer and actor and directed the documentary Because of Her.
