Kilmurry Simon
Simon Kilmurry joined American Documentary | POV in 1999 and was appointed executive director and executive producer in 2006. He oversees all aspects of American Documentary's programs and operations including the production of POV, PBS's award-winning documentary film series. Since 2006, POV has been honored with a Special Emmy Award for Excellence in Television Documentary Filmmaking, a Primetime Emmy Award, seven News & Documentary Emmy Awards, 41 Emmy Award nominations, six Academy Award nominations, three Peabody Awards, two Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Awards, the Full Frame Documentary Festival Industry Award, a Webby Award, and an Award for Corporate Commitment to Diversity from the National Association of Latino Independent Producers (NALIP). In 2009 and in 2011 POV received the Best Continuing Series Award from the International Documentary Association.
Kilmurry has served on panels and juries at many festivals and conferences, including Silverdocs, INPUT, IDFA, DocAviv, Sheffield DocFest, Dok Leipzig and the Independent Film Market. He has served on a range of funding panels including the Jerome Foundation, the LEF Foundation, Latino Public Broadcasting and the New York State Council on the Arts.
