www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Deposed King
A series of documentary films presenting the creative and personal life of outstanding Czech and Slovak figures from areas, culture, sport or politics. Thematically and formally connected to the past series Unresolved Deaths, Premature Deaths and Family Silver. JAM Media, s. r. o., Petr Lokaj – Lok Art Productions, Kraus House Production, LLC – branch and Pavel KŘEMEN – REALFILM collaborated with Czech Television on the stories. The life story of an actor who was called both the king of comedy and a traitor. Featuring O. Suchý, V. Just, S. Nálepková, Z. Kabátová, A. Hegerlíková, J. Adamová, K. Cáslavský, R. Lukavský and others. Petr Kotek's documentary film from the series "The Lives of Famous People". After the 4th year effort of JUDr. M. Vlk, Ondřej Suchý and Vladimír Just, the Czech Ministry of the Interior upheld the complaint by the General Prosecutors office and lifted the unjust verdict from 1947 on actor, director and theatre owner Vlasta Burian (9. 4. 1891 – 31. 1. 1962). With this the Czech King of Comedy was officially rehabilitated.

Justice for Marie Svejdova
As part of Mene Tekel - International Festival Against Totalitarianism, Evil and Violence, students of the Faculty of Law at Charles University launched an interesting experiment under the auspices of film director Jan Řeřicha who is also the festival's director. They participate in the carefully reenacted trial of farmer Marie Švejdová, an innocent victim of forced collectivization. She was arrested after she tried to fight the efforts to enforce collective farming. Using her common sense, she was never fooled by the collectivization propaganda. This documentary film by Pavel Křemen not only depicts the reconstruction of the court trial, but also follows reactions of the law students as they get acquainted with the monstrous judicial machinery of the time.

Waiting Room for Adulthood
Kari is a notorious troublemaker who has already had problems with the law. He likes graffiti the most. Petr doesn’t get along with his family and communicates through rap. Michal never goes out without his skateboard. Jakub is fine, but often he had no idea where to go after school. Not long ago these youths had nothing to do in their spare time. But then they started to go to the low-threshold club for children and teenagers. This is a documentary, filmed by the clients of the low-threshold clubs, who received cameras and filmed their daily routine at home, on the street, at school and at these very clubs. The main endeavor of its creators was to capture the authentic atmosphere of adolescent life, and to record how teenagers spend their free time.

Kauza profesorky Vackové
A reenactment of the 1952 communist show trial which involved Ruzena Vackova, a professor at Charles University in Prague. In this important propaganda case, prof. Vackova was sentenced to a 15-year prison term. Prof. Vackova specialized in art history, archaeology and aesthetics, during WWII she was part of the resistance movement, in 1948 she joined university students who demanded that President Benes resist pressure from Klement Gottwald.

I Didn't Hurt Anyone
An investigative mosaic which looks, from various angles at the issue of collaboration with the Communist-era secret police. The key figure is the author's friend, Jaroslav Kolář, who describes his own case. He explains what led him to cooperate with the secret police, and how he coped when his activities were revealed after November 1989. Three former secret policemen also talk about the techniques that were used to gain agents. The film also looks at the cases of well-known cultural figures, such as artist Joška Skalník, who experienced secret police practices at first hand. It confronts the architects of the totalitarian machinery with their victims, and considers the issue of guilt and penitence for past sins.
