I keep recurring to this moment: that time death was quite near. It took my friend, but left me. It all cost me just a fortnight in hospital. I celebrated New Year's Eve there. A friend brought some vodka, and we ate just snow from the ledge. Thus a new year began, the strangest year of my life, when I understood that I was losing everything, without knowing the reason of it. The first year of a new life which, for some reason, was granted to me.

Since October 1995, A.Kuprin worked in the state of TV company “VID” (First Channel of Russian TV) as a director of the program "Vzglyad" (“Vision”), for which he was preparing different videos, including videos from the Chechen war.
