In the year 2010, Romania’s forest cover doesn’t reach 16% and is going down because in Romania forests are heavily, and mostly illegally, exploited. Ion Asaftei from Grinties village is willing to tell us more about the legal and illegal wood trade in his area. But how much can he speak? Because the illegal deforestation and wood processing is covered by a well organized mafia. And our guy, is in a delicate or dangerous position.

The village of Grojdibodu, Romania - a local election is coming and Tudorel Nitulescu looks to get his fifth term as the village mayor. In order to secure victory, he unleashes all of his power and influence as manipulation and bribery spread its tentacles over the village to get the necessary votes. A portrait of a young democracy overrun by corruption and deceit.

Monica Lazurean-Gorgan made 5 short documentaries for RAI 1 television, Italy, for the Central Express project. She just finished directing 2 short creative documentaries on environmental issues in Romania (release in 2010). At Documentary in Europe - Pitching Session 2009, Italy, Monica pitched (as director/producer) The Ragamuffin Gospel, a creative documentary project (52 minutes) about 12 residents from a night shelter in Romania how are asked to recreate the Last Supper. The project is in pre-production. For the Romanian market she made two feature documentaries about pregnancy and delivery topics. She also directs commercials and short films. She has a B.A. in film directing.
