"Just like Heaven" is a poetic tale about a young couple who are looking for their natural place on Earth. It's also a story about Europe and Poland, with its eternal exodus from East to West while many Western people, like the Dutch in this film, for the very same reason, are heading the other way round. Filip Marczewski, an Oscar nominated director for his former short student film and cinematographer Szymon Lenkowski, have spent several months with their heroes.

A Screening at The Tatry Cinema
Darek Ambroszczyk is the only person working at a small declining cinema in Łódź. He spends hours in the ticket office of the empty Tatry cinema indulging in grumbling and manifesting his dislike for the world and accidental clients. Is it possible that every day routine may have completely drained his passion? Professional burnout is exposed by Darek’s discouragement and apathy. Darek lives a life of a local freak spending time in his cluttered flat with two unruly dogs.

It portraits his girlfriend's effort to rebuild and reinvent the bond of love in the time of his despair. The film consists of scenes from very personal places, shot without crew with a mini DV cam and 8mm, fully and truly made at home.

Born in 1976. Graduated from the Academy of Economics in Poznan and from the Production Department of The Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School in Lodz. Film production manager. Since 2003 he works as an Assistant at the Directing Dep. and from 2005 to 2008 was a vice Dean of The Directing Dep. in charge of Film Production. Since October 2008 he’s been a Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Marketing, Promotion and Distribution and since November 2010 becomes a Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Film Porduction. For 8 years he has been a Director of The Student Film Festiwal ‘Lodzia po Wisle’. Production executive of: A Song for Rebecca, dir.
