Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Parallels Of Creativity - Energy
Series Parallels of creativity is focused on relationship between art and science. Is "scientific creativity" different than artistic? Can artist inspire scientist? Painter, astronomer, psychiatrist and gallerist work with energy and meet in experimental film.

The Portrait
A documentary film with animated sequences about ethnographer Pavlína Brzáková. Travelling can expand horizons but also build a wall around the traveller. A film about unique experience.

Filmmaker, Fan, Freak
Josef F., a young cartoon filmmaker, living in the world of cinema and theatre is a social case – he is slightly mentally handicapped. Josef is in frequent contact with the environment of film and theatre celebrities. At the same time, he lives a rather lonely and chaotic life with his curator, in a house without running water. The contrast between the glittering world of the celebrities and the colorless, slow-paced existence of the social cases, creates the framework of the film. The director intends to explore if and how these two worlds can be interconnected, whether they have anything in common, and to search in each of them something, that would be really surprising for us.

Meet Factory
Connect an old factory building near Prague’s Smichov station with the name of controversial artist David Černý and the outcome is the unique project, Meet Factory.
