Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Navasaitis Valdas

Grandpa and Grandma
The documentary - animation is based on a life story of director's grandparents who were exiled to Siberia by Soviets in 1948. The severe period of Lithuanian history is being told in a personal way, in genre of a fairytale. The story teller is a little girl, who sees the events in her own child way. The visual basis of the film consists of extant family photographs together with the national archive material and animation inserts.

Tofolaria
The forerunner to Few of Us, Tofolaria was Sharunas Bartas’s diploma film for VGIK.

The Autumn Snow
The falling of the first autumn snow coincides with the final seconds of a man's life on earth. THE AUTUMN SNOW is a poetical, impressionistic study creating an atmosphere of autumn; in nature and in life. Like winter setting in - an organic part of nature's cycle - a man's death is a still and elevated end.
