A story of five destinies set in the Chinese contemporary art scene. A young artist struggling with his first steps into the professional scene; an established “Master” taggling a new project, free from financial concerns; a collector transforming his precious collection into a lasting legacy; an aspiring gallery owner looking for new talents from the provinces; an American artist moves to Beijing from New York with high hopes of reviving his career; a new cultural centre rising from a seeming cultural void in the middle of Inner Mongolian desert. The film captures the unique atmosphere prevailing in China’s art scene in its moment of emergence as a truly international player. Through these unique individual stories it cuts through the exciting world of China's art community, revealing the often baffling dynamics shaping it. Born 1964. Education: Helsinki Business college, University of Art & Design - The School of Motion Picture, Televison and Production Design (majoring in producing 1997). Work experience: Owner of NBB Navy Blue Bird Oy (Inc.) since 2005, latest finished production: the documentary As Long As directed by Katariina Järvi produced in association with the Finnish Broadcasting Company, several documentaries in development at the moment (and development funded by local financiers and EU MEDIA 2007 Programme). Previous work experience includes working for MPA distributor FS Film Oy, production company Indie Films Oy and the Ministry of Education.
