Polák Marián
Featuring real cases from the Czech Republic, France and other European countries, this documentary film presents the phenomenon of human solidarity, with a special focus on the spiritual roots of European culture. The film focuses primarily on the motivation rather than the expressions of solidarity. Introducing people who show their solidarity with the needy in practical ways, the film analyzes the origin of this old tradition that is, in a global context, an extraordinary element of Western civilization.
Starts: From January to May
During his study stay at the Lahti Polytechnic, director and cinematographer Marián Polák shot an original impression of Finnish winter. The film is black&white, evoking the period of film avantgarde when films were restricted only to images and had to find connections between the individual shots and situations.
Live Image of a Better World
Far away from civilization in the mountains Orlické hory, there lives a man together with his sheep, cats and radio who does not keep almost any contact with people. His knowledge of nature and natural processes and his protection of it are widely respected. This man of silent existence who lives a humble and unpretentious life on the outskirts of the world is followed by the director who was able to get close to him. The film tells the story of exclusion and resettlement in the original as well as figurative sense of the word and shows the man's desire for freedom.
Bethlehem - The Hope for the Floodplain
A documentary about a precious flood-plain area.
