Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Poste Restante
Church bells ring over a beautiful world of harmony which is underpinned with emptiness. Something is missing here. Is it sense? Or an aim? Or bonding? This documentary, which seemingly resembles an educational movie about the post, shows what happens to the letters without address sent to the persons who do not exist. Among them there is one on which a child’s hand has written ‘God. Heaven.’ The letters end up in the Department of Unsent Mail in Koluszki.

Kruzenshtern
Sailing ship „Kruzenshtern” is the Russian pride. Documentary film of Maciej Cuske tells the story about training cruise for future shipmen of the Russian Merchant Navy.

Invisible Strings: The Talented Pusker Sisters
A documentary about an almost mysterious relationship between two sisters, and about the power of music that plays a determining and essential part in their lives.

Cut-Paste
For only dozen hours after man's death opens an opportunity for another person's life. "Cut Paste" is a gripping metaphysical, action-packed documentary film where, instead of gunfights and car chases, we see moments uttering what really matters. Events in the film consist of a moving panorama of human tragedy and small victories, a struggle for life and idle waiting for rescue. Following this trail of despair and hope, we become acquainted with participants of this drama and we stop with them for a moment to watch them struggle with time, adversity... and their own weaknesses.
