12 Tons - Triumph of Wola
August 1, 1944 - Enthusiasm in the streets of Warsaw. Polish flags flutter in the windows, large swaths of the city are already in the hands of the insurgents. Germans flee in panic and Soviet cannons are heard rumbling from the east. One more second and the longing for freedom will come true. August brought a few days of happiness and hope. On August 5, 1944, the German troops under SS General Heinz Reinhardt's command launched a police operation in Warsaw. It was ordered by Hitler to crack down on the city's insurgence and restore the transport route to the eastern front. Warsaw was attacked from the direction of the Wola borough.

A Griot's Story
A personal film based on the narrative of Adama Drame, an African drummer descending from a family of Drame griots, a caste of old African tradition upholders. The main character narrates in Dioula, the artist's mother tongue. A Griot's Story is the tale of a mature musician. The focus of the film is on Adama Drame's music and his attitude toward life, which keeps him fully aware of his music making mission. Adama Drame is a contemporary griot, albeit orthodoxly traditional, he is a contemporary African who forcefully defends and defenselessly looses his identity. An African who is exposed to economic and cultural colonialism. An African who resists the lures of an artistic career in Western Europe, although he has often worked there for 25 years. A man who looks after his own tradition and culture. Above all, a proud African in both Paris and Burkina Faso.

At the Edge of Russia
Alexei is a nineteen year old recruit being flown in to perform his military service on the frontier of northern Russia. The base is one of few such remaining outposts on the Arctic Ocean. There are five other seasoned and long serving soldiers stationed here, each with their own personal story or secret that has caused them to retreat from the real world. Their training and breaking in of the new arrival is sometimes humorous, at times harsh. Gradually, they each reveal something of themselves in their daily interactions and private moments as they continue their absurd duty in this snow covered no man's land, hundreds of miles from the nearest human settlement.

Eight soldiers guard and impaled in to the ground wooden pole. Freezing temperatures, lack of equipment, and the artic day and night give them a place of shelter which they call a “paradise”. andnbsp; andnbsp; andnbsp;
