A cinematic accompaniment to the reminiscences of the student's grandfather, as he talks about the personal and historical events that shaped his life. Historical events are staged behind him in a space that, with the aid of candles on the ground, suggests a labyrinth. This is a symbol of human existence - here, mostly of history, which is created by people, but which the individual cannot influence; existential destruction touches us all. A textual counterpoint is provided by the texts of Lawrence Durrell.
