The Seven Valleys
Sashar Zarif: ”If you’re not satisfied with what the they offer you in every valley and you keep going, you’ll find more than you ever imagined...” Sufism is a mystical branch of Islam that has its roots in pre-Islamic shamanism. The aim of the Sufi way is to connect with God through a natural manifestation of one’s ”I” that cannot be expressed in words. The path through seven valleys through the dance of Sashar Zarif is inspired by the work of Sufi poet Farid Ud-din Attar entitled The Conference of the Birds. – Department of documentary film, FAMU – 3rd year (film poem).
Healing Me
"Show me your kidneys and I will tell you who you are..." Healing Me is a documentary about a personal healing journey. Tereza Tara, director of the film, is suffering from a kidney disease. The doctors can't tell why she suffers, recommending pain killers as the solution to her problem. Tereza turns to experts who are interested in the psychosomatic roots of the disease and decides to take her disease as an opportunity to improve her life. Her journey helps her to understand the continuity of her life, family history and stories from the past which become the real medicine for her body and soul.
Tereza Tara is a Czech film director and producer. Her film Fish'n'Pills about a journey of contraceptive pills causing sex change in male fish has inspired international audiences. Guru and Girl discovered sexual abuse of teenage girls at an esoteric school, years before it became widely known. Her films were awarded at several film festivals - Best Czech Science Documentary Film, AFO 2008, Film Language Research Award, Rio de Janeiro 2008, Best Documentary, Belgrade 2008, 1st Prize All human beings are born free and equal, Munich 2007. Tereza Tara is making a documentary Healing Me about her personal journey of healing from a kidney disease, which will be released in 2012. She studied documentary filmmaking at FAMU and directed several TV documentaries for Czech TV.
