www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Industry in Jihlava

This year, The Institute of Documentary Film (IDF) opens the 10th Industry Section for film professionals. In addition to the Public Presentations of the 10th East European Forum or more than 290 East European documentaries at the 7th East Silver Market, we will be hosting a wide-ranging programme of events, including Inspiring Sessions, Case Studies, One-on-one Meetings, Presentation of Documentary Works-in-progress, Co-production Breakfasts, Networking Dinners, the Silver Eye Awards and Industry Screenings.

INSPIRING SESSIONS FOR GENERAL AUDIENCES
At the 2010 Industry Section, a number of events are open to all visitors of the Jihlava IDFF who will have a unique opportunity to meet renowned documentary filmmakers. Everyone is welcome to attend our Inspiring Sessions that will offer an insight into the work of Nikolaus Geyrhalter, Michael Glawogger, Anders Østergaard, Pawel Lozinski and Pavel Kostomarov (October 23, 27, 28).

10 YEARS OF IDF AND INDUSTRY SECTION
Over the ten years of IDF’s existence, more than 70 documentary films have been made with the help of the East European Forum and the Ex Oriente Film workshop. Many of them have received recognition and awards at major international festivals, such as the Cannes IFF, Locarno IFF, Hot Docs, IDFA, Visions du réel, and Berlinale. The East Silver Market has had part in getting festival or television distribution for more than 370 completed documentaries.

 

RECORD NUMBER OF GUESTS
The Industry Section will host a record number of guests this year. Attending the East European Forum and the East Silver Market in search of new films into their programme slots or portfolios, more than 30 commissioning editors and buyers from major TV networks in Europe and North America,  over 20 sales agents, and many more distributors, film fund and festival representatives. More than 70 East European directors and producers will attend our industry events to find support for their documentary projects and completed films. With all other guests of the Industry Section, the Institute of Documentary Film will welcome over 400 film professionals.
