Barisone Luciano
Film-club host, journalist and film critic for specialist magazines and newspapers, he founded the magazine "Panoramiques", which he directs. He has written essays and monographs on filmmakers and topics such as Naomi Kawase, Nicolas Philibert and Les Films d'Ici. Since 1997, he has collaborated as programmer and press conference moderator at numerous international film festivals, including the Locarno International Film Festival and the Mostra Internazionale d'Arte Cinematografica of Venice. In 2002, he founded the Alba Infinity Festival, for which he has acted as artistic director until 2007. From 2008 to 2010 he has been artistic director at Festival dei Popoli in Florence. Since 2011 is the director of Visions du Réel in Nyon. He has acted as member of the jury at several festivals like Cannes Intl Film Festival, Fid Marseille, Bafici, DocLisboa, Punto de vista, DocAviv, Cinéma du Réel, Golden Apricot Intl Film Festival, Hot Docs, Cinema South Festival, Sarajevo Intl Film Festival.

Established in 1969 and renamed to Visions du Réel in 1995, the festival very quickly made a name for itself as one of the most important rendez-vous of this speciality cinema, both in Switzerland and on the international scene. Each year, the programme covers a broad range of documentary and experimental films from Switzerland and other parts of the world. Film professionals gather in Nyon for the annual Doc Outlook Market. The objective of Visions du Reel is to show the world as it is perceived, to break away from the mainstream. All the players of the brand Visions du Reel are mobilised to ensure a very high level of quality in their work and to contribute to the common good. The festival offers a diversity of committed and inspired points of view whilst making it possible to correlate experiences, reflections and aspirations.
