www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

A strong Friday’s programme take-off at 9am should be guaranteed by the Co-production Breakfast led by a delegation of German documentarians, producers, local institutions’ representatives and other professionals from German film industry. The contents of the morning session is going be driven by co-production opportunities and international cooperation with Eastern European region. We would like to remind you that all accredited professionals may, as any other day, access East Silver Videolibrary that holds more than 300 finished documentaries from Central and Eastern Europe between 10am and 10pm. At the same time, the Small Hall in Archa Theare is getting ready for a lecture held by a British theoretician, Liz Rosenthal, who pioneered the Cross-media phenomenon since the digital era origins. Her lecture will turn the spotlight on the new ways of documentary film reception and distribution and their effect on documentary narration and form. Another round of individual meetings within Project Market will take place on Archa Palace’s second floor from 11.30am to 1.30pm. Institute of Documentary Film invited to Prague also the greatly experienced German director Reiner Komers, whose Master Class is on schedule at 3pm in Archa Theatre’s Small Hall. After the several-day-long focusing on the fine-tuning of their projects, Forum workshop participants are given an option to rehearse for the Saturday and Sunday project pitching. A similar scenario is arranged for Doc Launch participants, however, they already pitch in the Archa Theatre Main auditorium today at 6pm. Please, keep in mind, that prior to the selection of the 9 Eastern European rough cuts giving their Doc Launch public presentation there is the official East Doc Platform opening. The ceremony begins at 5.30pm and features the awarding of the best two projects with East Doc Platform Award (rough cuts) and Golden Funnel award (development).
