Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Sunday One World for Kids

Take your kids to One World on Sunday to a set of short documentary films we have prepared for our youngest audiences and learn about how children from different parts of the world live! Join us in the Municipal Library of Prague (Městská knihovna) from 2.00 p.m. – you and your children are more than welcome!

The number of sold-out screenings is getting larger and larger every day, yet the programme has still a lot to offer. Such as After Life - 4 Stories of Torture (Světozor, 5.15 p.m.) followed by a Q&A session with the film’s director Mervi Junkkonen; free of torture scenes, the film delves into the trauma of refugees who were subjected to torture in their own countries.

On Sunday, you can look forward to yet another panel debate, this time on foster care. Come to the screening of Forever Yours (French Institute, 7.30 p.m.) and join Miloslav Macela (head of Family and Social Welfare Department, Czech Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs), Anna Šabatová (Chair of the Czech Helsinki Committee) and Vratislav Hlásek (foster parent) discussing the planned abolition of children´s homes in the Czech Republic.
