Caroline Behar began her career in the television industry in 1995, joining what was then La Cinquieme in the channel’s first year. Now known as France 5, it is one of three channels in the France Televisions group, along with France 2 and France 3.

In 1997, Caroline’s love of travel and determination to explore the world led her to join France 5’s Department of Acquisitions and International Co-productions, headed by Ann Julienne. This work takes her to international programme markets and festivals in search of the best documentary films and projects dealing with her preferred subjects: people, places and cultures from across the world, wildlife and the environment, science and technology. In recent years Caroline has developed numerous co-productions with international partners from around the world. MDR - Profile

MITTELDEUTSCHER RUNDFUNK (MDR) is part of the ARD-network located in Leipzig.  It offers a wide variety of TV-programme  for all viewers in its region, the middle of Germany.  The range extends from  regular news and sport broadcasts to entertainment shows, political magazines, cultural broadcasts, feature films, historical documentaries, religious and musical broadcasts.  It offers a 24- hour - programme and reaches a market share of nearly 10 percent of the audience.
MDR contributes also to the national public broadcast channel ARD – in all genres of programme.
Documentaries hold a strong position here: all in all fifty hours are being produced p.a. for ARD, MDR and arte, the German-French Cultural channel. Emphasis is put on history of World War 2, Cold War and the history of the former German Democratic Republic. A new trend here, however, is the look upon the medieval and pre-medieval ages, archaeological and mythical  traces.
A strong emphasis is also put on projects which look towards East European countries, their history, people and culture.
For MDR Television two weekly documentary slots need to be served, here the programme philosophy is the same as for the ARD slots. Because of financial restraints more than 50 percent of the programme are replays and licensed productions. Percentage of in-house productions is 50 percent. The single average production budget differs between 80.000,-€ and 300.000,-€.
