www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: December 20, 2011
Filled-out online application form, hard copies of required documents and DVD copies must be sent by December 20, 2011 (postmark deadline). Applications sent after December 20 will not be considered.



PROJECT SELECTION
Projects will be assessed by a five-member committee made up of IDF staff and international experts. The list of ten projects selected to attend the Forum will be announced in January, 2012 at www.DOKweb.net. Preference will be given to East European proposals and directors/producers based in East Europe.

 

APPLICATION STEP-BY-STEP
Before you start filling out the application form, please make sure you are able to provide all required materials (log line and synopsis; treatment; budget and financial plan in separate MS Word and Excel files; film stills; photos of director and producer).



A. ONLINE APPLICATION FORM
1) Accept East European Forum conditions of participation (current page)
2) Fill out details on project, director, producer, production company, etc.
3) Attach files (each max. 2 MB)
- Log line and synopsis (approx. 1 A4)
- Treatment (approx. 2 A4)
- Budget (approx. 1 A4)
- Financial plan (approx. 1 A4)
- Film stills (max. 10)
- Director’s photo
- Producer’s photo
4) Generate confirmation code

 

B. HARD COPY APPLICATION SENT BY REGULAR MAIL
Print out the confirmation code generated on the last page of the online application form and attach the code to the application sent by regular mail. Each application must include the following: 
1) Generated confirmation code, project title, name of director, producer and production company
2) Project in 5 copies (max. 6 pp., including log line and synopsis, treatment, budget, financial plan, stills, etc.)
3) 5 x DVD copy with project trailer
4) 5 x DVD copy with previous film
All required documents and materials must be sent by December 20, 2011 (postmark deadline) to the following address: Institute of Documentary Film, East European Forum, Skolska 12, 110 00 Prague, Czech Republic.



C. PARTICIPATION FEE
Successful applicants whose projects are selected have until January 31, 2012 to pay the participation fee. Projects that fail to pay the fee, will be excluded from participation at the East European Forum workshop and pitching session. Participation fee is EUR 100 per project + EUR 250 for accommodation and one meal per day. Travel expenses are paid by the participants. The total amount of EUR 350 must be transferred to CSOB,  Na Prikope 854/14 Praha 1, Czech Republic. Account Holder:  Institut dokumentarniho filmu (IDF),

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
The filmmaker teams (director and producer) must attend both the East European workshop and the pitching sessions. At least one member of the team must be proficient in English. The East European Forum will only accept projects that duly pay the participation fee and submit all documents and information requested by the organizers prior to the event.
