The IDF Award was presented to the project We Are the Champions which, despite being in the early stages of production, shows a very strong potential both in its visual material and filmmaking talent. It is directed by Matej Bobrik (*1982), a Prague-born filmmaker and currently a student at the Film School in Łódź whose previous film Where the Sun Doesn't Rush (2009) managed to pick up an admirable number of international awards and festival screenings, e.g., Special Mention at the 49th Krakow Film Festival; Best Short Documentary Award at the 2009 New York Polish Film Festival, with screenings at IDFA, DOK Leipzig, Visions du réel, Margaret Mead Film & Video Festival, ZagrebDox, etc.
The IDF Award grants the winners three nights of paid accommodation and a slate of networking events and meetings with international professionals at our Industry Section (October 24 - 30, 2011, Jihlava, Czech Republic). In addition, the project may be considered for pitching at the East European Forum (application deadline September 1, 2011).
We Are the Champions

The film is about people who want to help the Polish national football team to succeed at Euro 2012. A priest in the rural town of Kepnica encourages the local football fans to visit the mass regularly but not to pray for their own selfish goals. A conductor and a clarinet player compose a song for all Polish football fans. Prisoners want to pitch in with their bits of football expertise. A former military officer coaches a football team composed of young soldiers and wants to see Poland beat Germany at the championship. A homeless man is the goal keeper of a successful homeless fotball team that organizes a match in Berlin. A retired widower considers the hope of Poland's triumph at Euro 2012 the sole reason to keep on living.
About Dragon Forum
Dragon Forum is a series of workshop sessions dedicated to developing documentary projects and preparation for a pitching session with international TV commissioners. Each year the sessions take place in Warsaw and various other European cities and end with a pitching session at the Krakow Film Festival. Each year approx. 20 documentary film projects are selected. Project authors attend sessions led by international experts - directors, producers, commissioners from the UK, The Netherlands, Poland, Lithuania, Germany, United States and other countries. Dragon Forum also hosts so-called Open Evenings - film screenings and discussions open to public.
