Breakfast: Co-production with France
The first of three breakfasts hosted by East Silver Market will focus on the French documentary industry. Catherine Le Clef, former head of Doc & Co and senior Vice President TV and Ancillary Sales at Fortissimo Films, will be present
to introduce her new company, CAT&Docs, which is dedicated to the promotion and sales of world class documentaries. The very talented young producer, Cécile Lestrade of Alter Ego Production will also attend, along with Benoit Gryspreerdt of French Cuisine Production, producer Marie Clemence Paes of Laterit Productions and Gabriel Chabanier of Galatica Group, a new collective ‘adventure’ that compromises ten existing companies who have banded together to produce topic-specific films. All guests will share their international sales expertise and offer advice and opportunities to the East European documentary industry about co-productions, funds and broadcasters in France.

Breakfast: Co-production with Germany
On the morning of Saturday October 31st, East Silver will host a breakfast dedicated to the German documentary film & television industry. Selected guests will present their respective companies and propose their newest initiatives. The breakfast is an open forum to discuss the latest opportunities for East Europeans with German partners in production and distribution. Guests include Stefan Kloos of the world sales and distribution company Rise and Shine and the CEO and producer of Kloos & Co., Christian Beetz of Gebrüder Beetz Filmproduktion, one of the few German production companies specializing in the worldwide production and distribution of documentary programs, and Heino Deckert of Deckert Distribution. Also attending will be Daniel Saltzwedel of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg Fund., among others special representatives of the documentary industry.

Humaloja, producer and director of Kinovid Productions, Jari Kokko of Karlik films, Kirsi Mattila of Leino & Suvinen Production Inc., Markku Niska of Navy Blue Bird Inc., and directors Marko Pynnönen, Anna Korhonen, Kimmo
Kohtamäki, and Oskari Pastila. Representatives of the Dokumenttikilta–The Finnish Documentary Guild, will also be present to provide information about the Finnish documentary industry. New projects from guest fi lmmakers, useful
information about fi lm funds, and opportunities for co-productions between Finland and Eastern European countries will also be discussed.

ADRIAN WOOD
Adrian Wood’s early work as a film researcher ranged from the Benny Hill Show to Jon Blair's Oscar-winning documentary, Anne Frank Remembered. Adrian now acts as an independent archive film consultant. As well as lecturing and conducting workshops, he works on the development of archive-based documentary projects.

HUBERT BEST (Sweden)
Hubert Best is an expert in copyright law, and legal counselor for the media and entertainment industry. Authors, composers, actors, and acting agencies, publishing houses, television, film, and music producers benefit from his experience and advice. Hubert Best collaborates with major firms specializing in media and communication. He also acted as a legal counselor for the opening ceremony of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens.
Hubert Best is a visiting professor at Queen Mary and Westfield College and at King’s College of the University of London. He regularly conducts workshops, has published articles widely, and is co-author of numerous books on copyright.

IIKKA VEHKALAHTI (Finland)
Commissioning Editor for YLE TV2 Documentaries, Finland since 1998. Executive Producer for Steps For The Future and Another Finland and one of the Series Producers for Why Democracy. He is a board member in Steps International, Steps India and IDFA. In YLE he has commissioned several internationally awarded documentaries like 3 Rooms Of Melancholy by Pirjo Honkasalo, Decent Factory by Thomas Balmes, Gone To The Wind by Gennadi Gorodin, Recepies for Disaster by John Webster, The Journey by Markku Lehmuskallio, Lakshmi and Me by Nishta Jain, Paradise by Elina Hirvonen, In The Shadow Of Holy Book by Arto Halonen, Northern Star by Erkko Lyytinen and Riot On ! by John Hakalax. He has been a partner in several awarded documentaries produced in Asia, Middle-East and Africa. Before YLE he directed several awarded documentaries for Epidem and Musafilm, among them Past is Present, Amal, Inam, Naila, Man from the Shadow , Daughter of a Terrorist, Our Common Future? and Tehri - Two Journeys. Among the publications the most recent is a 2008 published book “Steps By Steps”, written together with Don Edkins.
