Ex Oriente Film
1st session: six days in June 2012 – “Find Your Originality”
Venue: Roztoky, Prague, Czech Republic
Dates of the session: June 18 - 23, 2012
Participants: Directors and producers of 12 - 14 projects selected that particular year
Session Focus:
The first Ex Oriente Film workshop deals with the development of documentary projects, primarily story potential, as well as researching the potential for documentary co-production and laying the groundwork for project production and its distribution.
Detailed Description:
The first workshop session aims to offer the participants inspiration as they develop their projects. The programme is divided between various master classes of visiting experts and practical intensive work on the projects (group work as well as individual consultations). During the first session, we aim to form the participants into a functioning group, providing the atmosphere for creative networking as well as defining the position of each project within the context of the European market. In the practical part of the programme, participants mainly work on the processing and development of their documentary projects, focusing the content of the film and its storytelling. Workshops help participants to analyze and understand the potential of their subject matter, ideas and plot, to find what is universal within them, and to expand on and strengthen these very points:
- story of the film and its protagonists;
- analyzing the strong and weak points of the project and its international dimension;
- constructing a basic concept for the strategy of the film’s production and financing;
- basic orientation within the system of European funding, grants and broadcasters.
Apart from individual meetings, group sessions and film development lectures on storytelling and financing, the first part of the workshop will offer the inspirational sessions by renowned filmmakers as well as film screenings.
Our aim: strongly focused projects with international potential, a plan for development, and the first concept for its production.
