DOKweb Content
www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Ex Oriente Film 2012: New Application Deadline!

In 2012, the Institute of Documentary Film is introducing a number of major changes – all based on the fact that we have moved most of our activities from Jihlava to Prague. The central networking event - East Doc Platform - now takes place in Prague in March in association with the One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival. The 2012 Ex Oriente Film workshop sessions are scheduled for June / October / March. You can submit your documentary projects for Ex Oriente Film until April 20!

The Ex Oriente Film workshop timetable has been changed so that the third workshop session can take place on the March dates when we organize the East Doc Platform.

EX ORIENTE FILM APPLICATION DEADLINE IS NOW APRIL 20! Apply with your documentary project through our online ENTRY FORM.

We believe that that change will bring the following benefits to the Ex Oriente Film participants:

- East Doc Platform (event to which the 3rd session will be leading to - with the East European Forum, Doc Launch presentation, East Silver Videolibrary, individual meetings within the Project Market, Industry Screenings, networking lunches, co-production breakfasts, master classes and case studies) will become larger and shaped according to East European documentary professionals

- Ex Oriente Film participants will profit from the increased quality of the East Doc Platform in Prague as it will be offering richer networking and co-financing possibilities

- All our guests will benefit from higher quality of the services in Prague, compared to Jihlava

- IDF and Ex Oriente Film will be able to increase its synergies – the Ex Oriente Film 2nd session will be organized in the synergy with the Jihlava IDFF, 3rd session and the whole EastDoc Platform will be organized in the synergy with the One World Film Festival. In stead of only one synergy with one partner, we will annually have fixed close programme synergies with two main Czech festivals. In addition, we will always be able to organize the first workshop in co-operation and in the frame with another festival or with another partner.

- The Ex Oriente Film 2nd session will be organized parallel to the Jihlava IDFF where IDF will open the East Silver Market Video Library (financed by MEDIA Training) with invited buyers, sales, festival programmers and distributors. Such combination of two events will be beneficial for the Ex Oriente Film participants who will be introduced to the way the international market with the completed films works. The 2nd session will also welcome tutors oriented on the distribution who will be helping the participants to build and shape their distribution strategy.
