www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Ex Oriente Film Second Session in Prague

The second session of Ex Oriente Film (June 13 - 19, 2011) will primarily focus on production strategies, marketing and copyright issues. All attending filmmakers will also be able to shape their stories and trailers with international experts. Parts of the programme will be open to the general public.

The second session will host a number of notable tutors and guests, among others, Jonathan Oppenheim, a renowned US editor whose credits include Sister Helen and the Oscar nominated Children Underground; Dr. Stefan Rüll who has many years of experience with legal consultancy for the film and television community, and producer Marta Lamperová who will dedicate her master class to distribution strategies that are available for creative documentaries. A heavy dose of inspiration will be provided by young video artists and activists Itamar Rose and Tamara Moyzes

Selected parts of the Ex Oriente Film programme (e.g., master class, film screenings) will be open to the general public.

He has received over 50 festival awards, including Silver Dove at DOK Leipzig, Best Directing Award at Locarno IFF, Prix Court Metrage Visions du réel Nyon, Golden Spire at San Francisco FF, IDFA Amsterdam, and others.

In 2007 Carmen started to develop feature films as well. A regular tutor for EDN workshops and other European organizations, expert for several European AV funds and a jury member for Seminci (2010), Seville Film Festival (2009), Punto de Vista (2008), IDFA (2006), Infinity Festival (2005) and DocLisboa (2004). Member of EFA and EDN. Her credits as producer include: The Player (dir. John Appel, Best Dutch Feature Documentary, IDFA 2009), Comrade Couture (dir. Marco Wilms), El Olvido (dir. One of the producers of the omnibus film 15 (short fiction film Omelette produced within 15 won Honorable Mention at Sundance 2009). Also producer of the first original Bulgarian productions for HBO, Concrete Pharaohs and Paradise Hotel. In 2006 she received the International Trailblazer Award. Lecturer at various European workshops and events. Director of the Balkan Documentary Center (BDC). Official representative of the European Documentary Network (EDN) in Bulgaria.

 

Rose Itamar

Itamar Rose

Itamar Rose was born in 1979 in Israel. He was a student at the Sam Spiegel Film School in Jerusalem and started working on satirical material, with Yossi Atia who was his film partner at that time, during the settlers’ struggle to prevent the disengagement. They went to the Gaza settlements where they satirically documented the battle. Their films combine documentary and satirical materials. Recently their work has been seen at the Israeli Center for Digital Art, Holon, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Kunstverein, Hamburg, and at the Tate Gallery, London. Itamar is in his last year in the M.F.A film studies at the Tel Aviv University, and he continue working on a satirical-documentary films.
