www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.

Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

We would like to thank all filmmakers who have applied for the 2011 Ex Oriente Film. Please note that due to the nature and geographical distribution of the applications, members of the selection committee have decided not to plan any meetings with applicants in other European cities this year. Final selection results will be announced on our website by February 18, 2011.

Ex Oriente Film 2011

Application deadline expired January 15, 2011.

A selection committee made up of IDF members of staff and Ex Oriente Film head tutors, is currently in the process of selecting 14 projects that will attend the year-long workshop.

This year, the selection committee decided that individual meetings with applicants in other European cities will not be necessary.

The list of 14 projects selected for the workshop will be announced by Friday, February 18, 2011 at www.dokweb.net.

Timetable of the 2011 Ex Oriente Film Workshop:
First Session – March 12 - 19, 2011 (Roztoky u Prahy, Czech Republic)
Second Session – mid-June 2011 (Bratislava, Slovak Republic)
Third Session – October 24 - 31, 2011 (probable dates, Jihlava, Czech Republic)

Participation Fee:
Participation fee is EUR 1,500 per selected project (includes all accommodation, coffee breaks and lunches for 1 - 2 persons during the three workshop sessions). Participation fee must be paid by Friday, February 25, 2011.
