www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

Bojan Schuch was born in 1968 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. He lives in Prague since 1994. He worked in grant funding of the non-profit sector since 1995 as provider of services related to the development of projects and programs as well as management, administration and control of resources provided by European donors (Phare and Tacis, Europeaid, ESF, EEA Financial Mechanisms and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms). Between 2005-2011, he worked in Civil Society Development Foundation as program director where he led and developed projects funded from EEA Grants and Norway Grants, e.g. Norwegian Inspiration – Czech-Norwegian Civil and Cultural Dialogue or “Road to Cooperation – Development of a Czech-Norwegian Partnership“. RNDr. Alena Beránková graduated from the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University and became a member of the scientific team in the field of psychiatry at Prague Psychiatric Center until 1991. In 1991, she co-founded ESET Psychotherapeutic and Psychosomatic Clinic where she worked as director until 1998. Then she started dealing with the non-profit sector in the field of psychiatry (Fokus Praha) and in the field of drug addiction (Office of the Government of the Czech Republic). In 2006, she started working for Civil Society Development Foundation where she was responsible for financial management of the foundation and its international and local programmes. She stopped working there as financial director in 2012. At that time, she started dealing with the standards of financial management in the non-profit sector. From 2008 to 2010, she taught Basics of Financial Management at the Department of Addictology of the 1st Faculty of Medicine of Charles University.

Veronika Lišková is a freelance film director and screenwriter based in Prague. She graduated from the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in Prague (Cultural Studies) and the Film and TV Faculty of Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) in Prague (Screenwriting and Sript Editing). During her university studies she cooperated with various film focused non-profit entities (f.e. Institute of Documentary Film, Doc Alliance Films, Jihlava IDFF, Film & Festivals Magazine London) and served as an editor-in-chief of New Space magazine (Czech Big Issue). Besides her independent film projects, she often works for Czech TV as a director and screenwriter of documentaries and occasionally contributes to film journals. In March 2012 she joined the Institute of Documentary Film as a programme coordinator for the Ex Oriente Film workshop and East European Forum. Since summer 2012 she is responsible for managing both projects.

Born in Prague, Radka graduated from cultural studies at Philosophical Faculty of the Charles University, Prague. In 2000 - 2006 she worked for Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Film Industry department. Since 2007 Radka organizes Fresh Film Fest - International Festival of First Features and Student Films and became the event’s director in 2013. She organizes and selects films for Prague Short Film Festival, founded in 2005, and has cooperated on several projects of the Institute of Documentary Film since 2003. In 2014, she will be in charge of the East Doc Platform.

Zuzana Válková studied journalism at the Faculty of Social Sciences of Charles University in Prague, later enrolled in a course at London School of Public Relations. She worked as a PR consultant and digital communication manager both in private and non-governmental sector (Civil Society Development Foundation, Educon), served as an external editor of cultural section of Právo daily. Between 2006 and 2008 she worked as a presenter for Czech TV.

Graduated in Aesthetics and Slovak Language and Literature in Bratislava and Prague, together with the complement Artes Liberales Film Studies in 2002. Between 1999 – 2005, she worked as an Editor and Literature and Film Journalist for Vlna magazine, organized film projects for Soros Centre of Contemporary Arts, Bratislava and worked for Nitra International Theatre Festival in Slovakia as a journalist and translator of drama. 2005 – 2006 worked for Designblok, days of Design in Prague as a Production Manager, prepared Slovak section of music videos and animated films as a Curator for Datatransfer – festival of new visual styles in Prague. She also worked for FAMU – Documentary Film Department in Prague. She has been working for East Silver since 2005. She speaks English and German.

Viktória Hozzová was born on 29th of June 1981 in Košice, Slovakia. Graduated from Film School Zlín in Production Management. She participated in several student films as a production manager and co-organized the Zlin Dog Student Film Festival. During her studies she also contributed to some feature films and began her cooperation with Czech Television where she worked on many documentary projects. She joined the IDF team in January 2009 and organizes its acitivities as a production manager. Speaks English and understands Hungarian.

Graduated in Film and Theater Studies from Philosophical Faculty of Palacký University in Olomouc. During his studies cooperated with Fléda civic association (project “20 Years After“), directed an amateur theater company and spent a lot of time creating music. In 2012 worked for Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival as production assistant for accompanying events and shipping assistant. A few months later joined the IDF team.

Graduated in Film Studies and Czech Philology in Olomouc (2010). During the study years worked for local international festivals (Festival of Science Documentary Films - Academia Film Olomouc, PAF – Festival of Film Animation). Since 2009 works as East Silver Assistant and East Silver Caravan Coordinator. Apart from that works also as programme coordinator and selector for Summer Film School Uherske Hradiste (programme section: Silent film with live music) and occupies the same post also for annual festival of contemporary European cinema, Days of European Film in Prague. Occasionally also writes about film for several specialized magazines and websites (Cinepur, www.25fps.cz, www.dokweb.net).

Born in Prague, Czech Republic. After graduating from Jan Neruda Gymnasium, Jana studied Russian & Language Teaching Methodology at the Faculty of Education, Charles University, and graduated in East-European Studies from the Faculty of Arts, Charles University. While studying, she worked as a tour manager with a travel agency based in Oxford. She gained wide experience in the travel business. Jana has been cooperating with IDF since 2008, participating on the East Silver Market project as a coordinator for Russia and former Soviet countries. Her responsibility is also to edit the East Silver database and catalogue in Czech, English and Russian. She speaks Czech, English, Russian and German.

Recently on maternity leave. From 1999 worked as a freelance production assistant and 2nd AD on several projects for companies producing mostly TV content. In 2001 – 2003, before returning to the film and TV industry, she worked as a project manager for Internet development company Media Capitol, developing online projects for local TV Broadcasters, including HBO Czech Republic. She has worked as an interpreter/personal assistant for the IFF Karlovy Vary in 2000 – 2007 and is currently studying Theory of Interactive Media at Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University in Brno. Anna has joined the East Silver team in 2006.
