The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.

Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

He has committed this act in protest against the progressing lethargy and pusillanimity of the Czechoslovak nation following the occupation of Czechoslovakia in the 1968.

The story of the Star Wars, the Cold War and the War On Terror of one small Czech village. As part of its National Missile Defense Program, the US plan to build a military base in the Czech Republic, a former hiding place for Soviet nuclear rockets during the Cold War. Despite the fact that 73% of Czechs are against the project, the government has continued with negotiations. Supporters of the base claim that it will strengthen the country's defense against the global threats of the 21st century. Opponents point out that the plan essentially shifts the Iron Curtain toward the east; they also insist that it represents an attempt of the US to rule the world.

Shutka is the largest Roma settlement in the Balkans. At least according to the words of a young local fisherman, who is the main protagonist of this documentary film, shot in co-production with Czech Television. The film is a guide through the streets of Shutka, where in every person we can find at least one national champion, or even world champion, regardless of what it is in. What is important is that each person believes in their uniqueness and others recognize it. In this ever-expanding society, space is made for competing religious representatives such as those participating in a Muslim dervish or the servants of God using the "medium" of Christian tradition. The local homosexual in his colourful wardrobe is no less respected that the greatest pair of lovers - prostitute Kasandra and the elderly Alfonso who enjoys walking around Shutka in a copy of Tito's uniform. This Macedonian settlement, with its difficult-to-estimate population, also has its own music industry: from the recording studio to the workshop for music videos and even some big stars, who due to the active work of local music pirates must earn money in the old-fashioned way - at weddings, circumcision celebrities or funerals.

They crave for substitute happiness smuggled into their cells and the next leave?Within the context of a theater production in the womens jail Schwarzau, young prisoners improvise scenes from their lives, especially from their everyday prison routines. When and why did they take the turn that led them to jail? How does imprisonment affect them?

Living in the age of reality TV, in a society hungry for sensation, it is easy to feed on the highly emotional stories of people whose futures are being shaped by dozens of professionals. "Cinematherapy" takes a slightly different approach. A commercial aired on Czech Television invited viewers to attend a casting and tell their stories. Later on, eleven of them underwent cinematherapy – provided by the camera as an intermediary between them and the outside world. Blurring the lines between feature film, documentary and reality show, the film does not offer the participants a plastic surgery or a reunion with a long lost friend but lets them witness their often bizarre lives and thus move forward in dealing with their issues.

In the so-called global age, man is caught in the trap of time he has set for himself and then got stuck in it along with his freedom. A film about time, which consists of several fragmentary documentary sequences. Each of them shows how subjective the protagonists’ perception of time is: an undertaker transporting coffins every day, a group of aging actors celebrating a birthday on a train, or soldiers rehearsing a manoeuvre. The stories are connected in free association and told circularly to make palpable that all these times exist simultaneously. The film explores time's physical quantity as well as its crucial impact on our actions, behaviour, perception, social rituals and our outlook on the world. A project of Zipp – German-Czech Cultural Projects, the Institute of Documentary Film, Prague, and DOK Leipzig.
