Valkyrie Limited

Love, hate, power and greed are just a small spectrum of human characteristics encoded in Richard Wagner's The Valkyrie. It is universal opera and therefore creates a massive challenge to an artist's imagination. Valkyrie Limited is an investigation of the director's mentality into and beyond the reality of staging the Valkyrie at the Latvian National Opera. Taking the Valkyrie phenomenon to an abstract level, the film seeks the fragile link between a pragmatically constructed performance and the world of the unconscious that lies within the music and the narrative.

There is a contemporary Painter, a Writer, a Historian, a Soldier, a Teacher, a Scientist and a Composer. It might well happen that these characters open up to reveal their beliefs. But it might equally be the case that these conundrums are left for the viewer to decipher on their own. Where poetry ends, history begins.

Heated Blood

Seven years after the fall of Milosevic's regime and the revolution of October 5th, Serbia is still a country largely isolated from the rest of the world where extreme right-wing parties are getting stronger every day. What is most worrying is the fact that the incidents caused by the ultra-rightist groups, made up mostly of very young people, have become public and more frequent following the year 2000.
