www.DOKweb.net is a portal dedicated to East European documentary film. The news section provides up-to-date information on upcoming and just completed films, interviews with filmmakers and other documentary professionals, in-depth articles exploring the state of documentary filmmaking in various parts of the region, as well as insightful texts on current trends, funding, etc. The portal also boasts the largest published databases of completed and upcoming documentary films from Eastern Europe, an industry directory, as well as trailers and original video content. www.DOKweb.net is IDF´s key online project that provides comprehensive details on all IDF´s activities and links them with general information service.
Institute of Documentary Film’s Activities
Founded in 2001, the INSTITUTE OF DOCUMENTARY FILM (IDF) is a non-profit training and networking centre based in Prague, Czech Republic, focused on the support of East European documentary films and their wider promotion. Our activities support filmmakers through all stages of completion – development, funding, production, post-production, and distribution. We aim at individual filmmakers (tailored consultations), groups of carefully selected professionals with projects or films (Ex Oriente Film, East European Forum, East Silver, Doc Launch, etc.), broader professional community (East Doc Platform), as well as the general public (portal www.DOKweb.net). We closely work with key int. festivals, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents, markets, or training initiatives and serve as the GATEWAY TO EAST EUROPEAN DOCUMENTARY FILM.

AIM:

One of the biggest world’s markets for international documentary coproduction and sales - the Sunny Side of the Doc (330 commissioning editors and buyers from 120 channels in 50 countries), which is taking place in La Rochelle from  June 27th to June 30th , 2006  is open to the East European film Professionals this year.
For the first time, East European producers have official place at the market, which should help them with a special conditions and supporting events. Thanks to the umbrella you can have easier access to the market and be given a help with contacting key TV representatives, distributors and aquisitors.

 



East European Docs umbrella offers:

  • 50% discount of the usual fee (538,20 €) for East European producers – fee for East Europeans is 269,10 € including tax. This entitles one person to be present at the Sunny Side and put two projects into the Projects   catalogue, or two finished films into the digitialized Video Library; or one in each at no extra charge.
  • Individual consultations about projects for each participating producer. This consultation should help you to orientate at the market and contact the right buyers or decision markers for your projects. The number of European industry experts have agreed to devote you their time on the first day of the market – the 27th of June (i.e.Simone Baumann/Producer L.E. Vision, Thomas Kufus/Producer Zero West GmbH, Claas Danielsen/Director of the International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film and former Director of Discovery campus)
  • Participation at EASTERN EUROPEAN PRODUCERS' PRESENTATION - opportunity for members of the Umbrella to present their projects and facilities to an audience of buyers and commissioning editors. It is not intended to be a direct pitch, but an introduction to the kinds of projects and co-operation which EE producers offer to the international market.

Sessions will be organized by Leena Pasanen – Director of the European Documentary Network EDN. Breakfast sessions will take place in the Lounge on the upper floor of the conference centre
